Description The Systems Engineer position is responsible and/or involved with recommending, designing, implementing, supporting, managing and troubleshooting enterprise-level applications and services as well as the underlying technologies that may include database, storage systems, internet services and authentication technologies. These information systems improve the college's technology services while aligning with the college's mission and goals.
The Systems Engineer position reports to the Director of the Infrastructure Team and works collaboratively with members of the broader IT division.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Infrastructure Team provides core services and infrastructure for the college's information systems. The team promotes student success by ensuring the college's digital information, technology services and enterprise systems are strategically planned, implemented, tested and supported to meet the technology needs of students, staff, and faculty.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL DUTIES
Extensive knowledge architecting supported versions of Microsoft Windows Server Integrate enterprise level software and hardware services/systems Ability to support a wide range of products and technologies Work closely with colleagues in the ITS division to design, implement, manage and support services Plan, schedule and prioritize multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, on schedule and within budget Work independently and as a member of a team serving users' needs Resolve incidents and conduct root cause analysis of critical outages Knowledge and understanding of general networking equipment and services Ability to work and learn in a flexible way that allows for interruptions and changes in priorities Write documentation, either independently or collaboratively
QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Five years experience providing technical support Two years enterprise level experience in information technology such as consulting, analyzing, designing, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, hardware, telecommunications, or network infrastructure equipment Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to workwith diverse group of students, staff, businesses and community Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 45 lbs Willing to work a schedule which may involve being on call during evenings and weekends
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with: Load Balancing (F5 LTM devices preferred) SAN Storage Solutions(NetApp preferred) Linux Servers Scripting/Automation Unified Messaging (Skype for Business Online preferred) Microsoft SQL Administration IISAdministration/Configuration Office 365 Administration Enterprise Backups
