Essential Functions: JOB PURPOSEReporting to the Assistant Dean of Assessment, Accreditation, Continuous Quality Improvement (AACQI), the Director, Accreditation for the School of Medicine is responsible for establishing and implementing undergraduate medical education short and long-term program goals and supporting activities that improve programmatic quality and meet accreditation standards per the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). Oversees the undergraduate medical education accreditation operations, promoting a culture of academic excellence in support of quality and accreditation standards.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDevelops and implements strategies, goals and initiatives that support accreditation readiness for the undergraduate medical education programs. Initiates projects that focus on programmatic quality, accreditation standard compliance and improved processes; forms project work groups and oversees project activities. Serves as the Curriculum Management Committee's (CMC) Assurance Officer achieving operational excellence by setting priorities, developing agendas, establishing accountability and ensuring timely follow-up for designated and approved actions. Monitors current and proposed programmatic accreditation standards and enforces existing policies and develops new protocols.Oversees continuous and systematic programmatic audits to ensure that institutional accreditation readiness is maintained. Creates key performance indicators (KPI) and monitors KPI metrics to ensure operational effectiveness, educational program quality and institutional efficiency. Identifies opportunities to enhance accreditation readiness and processes based on metric outcomes. Works with Continuous Quality Improvement team to determine and implement improvement initiatives. Tracks progression and sustainment of improvement initiatives. Prepares and presents reports on institutional accreditation readiness to leaders and other stakeholders. Provides overall leadership and direction to staff and work groups. Sets expectations and focus, assigns duties, delegates responsibilities, evaluates activities, prepares performance appraisals and professional development plans. Provides coaching, mentoring and teaching. Manages the administrative process for assigned staff including hiring, promotions, terminations, disciplinary procedures, and salary adjustments. Provides ongoing performance feedback, goal setting, and development plans for staff. Plans for future staffing needs. Provides timely communications to staffEstablishes and maintains professional and effective relationships with University and leaders and other stakeholders to ensure a collaborative and open communication culture. Supports faculty in the ongoing development and implementation of educational programs, ensuring alignment with the mission of the University. Ensures programs occur in a quality learning environment that emphasizes student-centered learning, professionalism and inclusion.Produces scholarly work in the form of peer-reviewed publications and presentations. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Master degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, education or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience: Minimum seven years in progressively responsible roles working with medical education accreditation standards and the LCME. Experience in managing an accreditation audit in higher education.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESEffective interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to handle pressure situations, including dealing with sensitive and confidential human relations situations. Ability to exercise professional judgement within guidelines.Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Ability to train, develop, assess, and offer feedback to staff members. Must be able to forecast resource needs and project processing deliverablesProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software i.e. Compliance Assist, Asana, Ilios.Ability to manage activities while meeting respective deadlines. Excellent organization and time management skills.Knowledge of LCME accreditation requirements.
