The Next Generation Education Instructional Coach is a visionary with a strong background in differentiated instruction, flexible grouping, Socratic instruction, workshop method, and data driven instruction and has demonstrated successful experience as an academic coach, professional development facilitator, and/or researcher. S/he is an enormously positive and enthusiastic person who is steadfastly focused on developing lifelong learners who demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving, creativity and innovation, adaptability, collaboration, communication, information sourcing and self-direction.
Professional Development: • Develops, coordinates, and facilitates the annual professional development calendar. This is to include scheduled faculty meetings, monthly professional development days, pre/post service reporting days, and grade level team meetings when requested.
Next Generation Education Strategic Plan: • In conjunction with the Lower and Upper School Directors, ensures alignment of professional development calendar with the Next Generation Education Strategic Plan and manages the professional development budget. • In conjunction with the Director of Advancement, is an active leader in the Annual Campaign which funds the faculty professional development budget. • Tracking of and developing plans for continued improvement in aggregated school data • Oversees the organization and implementation of assessment testing multiple times throughout the year, including setting goals and assessing performance. • Holds regular lesson-planning/unit planning clinics for teachers. • Works with staff to align curriculum and skills/strategies vertically across grade levels. • Keeps abreast of innovative approaches to teaching and learning and share with the staff as appropriate • Develops teachers and tracks student, class, grade and domain performance data in order meet student growth goals. • Consistently reflects on leadership practices through formal and informal methods, and works relentlessly to meet individual professional development goals. • Assumes shared responsibility for student achievement and instills that sense of responsibility in all staff and faculty. • Embraces feedback and constructive criticism in the spirit of constant improvement. • Overall responsibility for the development, implementation and assessment of digital student portfolios as a measure of student performance. • Lead researcher and developer of domain revisions to ensure that Aspen Academy adopts the highest standards in the world in each domain; provides for a thoughtful and well documented scope and sequence in content; utilizes the best curriculum (with a mindset towards migration to digital curriculum , i.e., e-backpack concept); ensures meaningful assessment; effective faculty training; manages domain revision budget; and publishes research findings and domain overview communication via website, school brochures, parent universities. • Helps coordinate academic domain Parent Universities and works to develop faculty in the role of effective facilitators.
Qualifications: • Proven successful experience in instructional coaching, school wide professional development, and effective data driven performance system implementation that supports the culture of positive and productive authentic learning and masterful instruction. • Demonstrate a relentless drive to improve both in and out of school • Model the school’s core values with colleagues, students, parents, and larger community • Reinforce the school’s core values, guiding philosophy, rules, and school spirit consistently throughout the school environment and support and hold accountable colleagues in doing the same. • Grant permission for a credit check and criminal background check
Education & Experience: • Minimum educational level: Master’s Degree or higher • 10+ years teaching experience
