MCPHS University seeks an energetic, creative and collaborative individual for the new role of the Chief Academic Technology Officer at the University. This new position is part of the Academic Innovation team within the Provost's Office, and reports to the Associate Provost for Academic Innovation. The Chief Academic Technology Officer works in conjunction with the Associate Provost and other key personnel to analyze academic technology needs and current practices and to recommend best practices strategies and solutions that enhance academic programs through the innovative use of technology. Responsibilities: Working with the Associate Provost, analyze general academic technology needs against the available academic technology resources for faculty and students and recommended best practices. Working with deans and program heads, examine specific academic technology needs with respect to teaching and learning within their units and to plan next steps. Develop initial recommendations for academic technology implementation, leading to the development of an annual academic technology plan in concert with the University Strategic Plan, the Academic Master Plan, and the University Technology Plan. Develop process for the selection of academic technology and software, working with the Associate Provost for Academic Innovation and the Chief Information Officer. Develop and provide resources for workshops and demonstrations designed to engage faculty and staff in the use of technology into their courses and programs. Develop pilots for relevant hardware and software applications. Develop media recording production capacity for faculty, along with provision of necessary training. Collaborate with the Executive Director of Instructional Support, Director of Faculty Development, and Online and Educational Technology Librarian to support the virtual Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) and to design other professional development resources. Serve on the Academic Technology Committee. Track software/technology acquisition in each of the schools and major programs. Develop communication strategies for informing academic community about academic technology solutions. Follow-up on implementation of new academic technology solutions in terms of ongoing use and effectiveness.Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.Qualifications:Required: Master?s degree in Education, Instructional/Academic Technology, Information Technology or related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience with design & development of technology-based courseware designed to meet teaching and learning needs; this includes: Minimum of three years of related experience in higher education working with faculty and staff; Experience teaching in higher education; Experience planning and implementing moderate to large-scale academic technology projects that involve working with faculty to design enhanced teaching and learning environments; Practical but substantive experience with higher education academic, research, and administrative activities; Strong project management experience with the ability to manage multiple initiatives; Experience working with faculty in the implementation of academic technology solutions. Demonstrated progressive experience in working with faculty, students, and staff. Experience as an early adopter of academic technology solutions and/or experience working with early adopter faculty and academic technology pilots. Excellent verbal and written communication competence. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with people of all levels of expertise and comfort in varied organizational relationships.
