Position Summary and ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Director of The Vassar Fund, The Senior Associate Director of The Vassar Fund-Leadership Annual Giving is responsible to manage a co-hort of class volunteers who solicit gifts on behalf of the College. The Senior Associate Director directs Vassar's leadership annual giving program that generates 86% of The Vassar Fund's annual revenue. This position manages a portfolio of rated prospects, moving them through the donor engagement process and soliciting leadership annual gifts. Additionally, the Senior Associate Director supervises and oversees the day-to-day work of an Assistant or Associate Director, class fundraising volunteers and co-manages an Administrative Assistant.
Responsibilities: Leadership Annual Giving:
Direct The Vassar Fund's leadership annual giving program, including: develop and implement an annual plan, utilizing best practices, to achieve annual leadership annual giving dollar and donor goals in coordination with the overarching Vassar Fund plan;
Partner with Vassar Fund colleagues to establish reunion and class-based goals for leadership annual donors and dollars, assisting with strategy development and execution;
Partnering to ensure donor benefits and recognition are implemented accordingly to plan;
Track Vassar Fund gifts of $25,000+, working with others to ensure their assigned donors make their Vassar Fund gift;
Coordinate the President's Deans Circle (25K) and President's Circle (50K+) annual direct mail solicitation, collaborating with gift officers to ensure appropriate follow-up;
Collaborate with Development Communications to develop marketing and stewardship print and digital collateral for the College's Leadership Giving Society;
Lead bi-monthly Vassar Fund gift officer prospect meetings, helping to develop strategy for rated prospects;
Provide weekly statistical reports, analysis, and program recommendations to the Director of The Vassar Fund.
Oversee class fundraising volunteers in 10-12 classes, ensuring individual class dollar and donor goals are reached;
Establish class goals in conjunction with class leadership and the Sr. Associate Director of Reunion Giving as needed;
Partner with principal gift officers and leadership gift officers to ensure prospects in reunion classes make multi-year unrestricted gift commitments;
Recruit and train volunteers. Ensure 100% participation and ensure each volunteer has peer assignments and conducts their outreach at strategic points in the fiscal year;
Craft print and digital communications;
Lead training sessions and conduct periodic class conference calls.
Manage a portfolio of approximately 100 prospects, moving them through the process;
Secure a minimum of 50 meetings per year. Goals will be developed with the Director of the Vassar Fund based on the portfolio;
Develop strategies for top prospects to close gifts of $1,500-$100,000;
Upgrade leadership annual giving donors within the leadership giving society;
Secure bequests and other planned gifts as appropriate for donors;
Individually steward $5,000+ donors;
Participate in prospect strategy meetings with fellow gift officers.
Supervise an Assistant or Associate Director and co-manage one administrative assistant;
Oversee day-to-day work to ensure best practices in assigned programs are implemented;
Coach Assistant or Associate Director on individual giving best practices;
Conduct annual performance evaluations for assigned personnel.

Qualifications Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Advanced degree preferred; 6+ years of annual fund experience in higher education, private schools, or a non-profit, including 3+ years of experience soliciting leadership annual gifts and understanding of prospect moves management, or equivalent experience. Experience in higher education preferred; Experience using CRMs and/or donor databases; Demonstrated ability secure five to six figure unrestricted gifts or similar experience in a related field such as sales; Experience managing volunteers and programs and enthusiastic about leadership annual giving; Familiarity with and commitment to a liberal arts education and the ability to articulate Vassar's fundraising priorities and mission to inspire increased giving; Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines; Excellent interpersonal skills; Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; Ability to interact with diverse constituents; Highly proficient in Microsoft Office; Ability to travel for the College and to work nights and weekends as needed. Must have a valid driver's license.
