The Automation, Indexing, and Metadata department (AIM) of the Library Information Technology division (LIT) manages the Library’s current Integrated Library System (ILS), Aleph 500 from Ex Libris. Over the next several years, we expect to devote significant time and resources to the Library’s migration to a new ILS/LSP (Library Services Platform). We are seeking an experienced IT professional or Librarian who will work collaboratively with current staff as we continue to support (and enhance as needed) our current ILS and related services, while preparing for and implementing a new Library Services Platform. The candidate hired for this position is expected to become one of our lead experts in both the current and future library management systems, and will work closely with colleagues in AIM/LIT, a variety of other library stakeholders, and system vendors.

Develop familiarity with current local metadata, configurations, processes, integrations, etc. relating to Aleph and ancillary systems/processes.
Participate in administering and maintaining the Library’s Aleph implementation, including system maintenance, ongoing operations, customer support, load and export processes, analytics/reporting, capacity planning and system tuning, etc..
Play a major role in preparing for system migration. This will include metadata analysis, normalization, and cleanup in the current Aleph ILS, as well as planning and execution of data export and transformation tasks needed to ensure a successful transition.
Research, design, and build integrations between the new system and other Library, University, and/or third party applications to achieve functional outcomes that are at least equivalent to what is available via our current integrations with our Aleph ILS.
Play a significant role in configuration and tuning of our new Library Services Platform. This may include configuration of system functions and services, performance tuning, data/system security analysis and implementation, and other tasks as needed to ensure an efficient and secure system that provides the Library staff with the tools needed to do their work.
Play a leading role in administration of our new ILS / LSP after cutover to production.
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and three or more years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. (For appointment as a librarian, an ALA-accredited master's degree or equivalent combination of a relevant advanced degree and experience is required.)
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively, both independently and as part of a team.
Experience with scripting, programming and relational database tools such as git, perl, ruby, sql (especially mysql and/or oracle), unix shell scripting, and solr.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and responsibility in a complex, rapidly changing environment.
Ability to understand diverse perspectives and acknowledge the significance of differences and complexities in backgrounds, cultures, values, and viewpoints as the foundation for an inclusive environment.
Experience with administration, application support, maintenance, and/or system migration of complex systems (especially a Library Services Platform and/or an Integrated Library System).
Familiarity with library metadata standards and practices
Experience working with restful APIs and/or webhooks.
Experience with system performance tuning and capacity planning.

The actual salary offered may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
