Citi's US Consumer Business Operational Risk and Control (US-CBORC) organization drives consistency in addressing Operational Risk and Control issues within the US Consumer Businesses. US-CBORC fosters a culture of control, customer centricity and accountability by leading efforts to identify, anticipate and mitigate regulatory, reputational and operational risks. The US Head of Consumer Banking is looking to hire the Head of US Consumer Business Operational Risk and Control. The Senior Leader in this role will lead a team of risk professionals with responsibility to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our control environment through a common infrastructure, quality control monitoring, implementation of the Manager's Control Assessment, operational risk metrics, issues management and reporting, business regulatory exam management and crisis management. This position is a critical strategic role, ensuring the risk profiles within the US businesses are well understood and well managed. As a First Line of Defense function this person will need to build trusted relationships with Business Leaders, Process Owners, other US and Global CBORC colleagues as well as Second and Third Line partners while establishing a credible contact for Regulators.
Lead US-CBORC teams and in-business control teams to take an end to end view of the business risks and continue the design and implementation of effective in-business controls to ensure consistency in framework and execution.
Work closely with US Consumer Banking Leadership, Control Functions and Regulatory authorities to understand and execute against the quantitative and qualitative requirements for executing world-class risk governance and control frameworks consistent with overall Citi policy and strategy.
Leverage and enhance governance structures, analytics and protocols to drive cross geography issue identification and resolution linking in other US-CBORC areas.
Act as the focal point for business leaders in knowing, understanding and synthesizing the state of the control environment; prioritize through established local and global governance committees.
Serve as the senior advisor to the US Consumer Business on all aspects of operational risk, reputational risk and responsible business practices, balancing risk management and client experience appropriately.
Engage with Regulators as required and represent the US-CBORC organization in any risk and control matters.
Partner with Business Process Owners and CBORC peers in driving standard streamlined and simplified processes.
Establish operational risk priorities, standard business KOR/KRIs and manage "paths to effective".
Develop materials and facilitate monthly/quarterly operational risk forums;
Identify and escalate incidents/issues for cross-geographic impact reviews and common mitigation opportunities.
Engage with Regional and Global CBORC teams to drive global priorities and initiatives.
Extensive knowledge of consumer products (Cards, Unsecured, Business Banking, DDA, HELOC) with a very detailed knowledge of mortgages and mortgage servicing; minimum of 20 years' Senior Risk Management and leadership experience.
Thorough understanding of end-to-end consumer operations and demonstrated success leading a large-scale, multi-disciplined operational risk function.
Ability to lead a large cross-functional team across a North America Consumer Business including technical, project management, risk management and operational management teams encompassing a diverse group of control professionals.
Proven track record of results and strong leadership during multiple crisis scenarios regarding significant industry, and Regulatory events.
Exceptional leadership record of interacting and working with Executive Leaders and Board members. This requires an exceptional leadership presence, subject matter expertise, and the finesse to work with industry leaders and senior executives.
Capability to define a well thought out organizational strategy and execute on an associated operational plan.
Demonstrated success managing large-scale change initiatives and programs on time and within budget where operational risk has played a key role.
Exceptional matrix management skills requiring strong collaboration with a collegial style that gains the respect of key business partners to ensure overall business success in managing activities and remediating operational risk gaps.
Demonstrated success in managing highly complex project management activities with agility, a sense of urgency and clear solution mitigation.

20+ years of related work experience
A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Related Field. Master's Degree Preferred
