FINANCIAL COORDINATOR , Chemical Engineering (ChemE)-Financial Team , to provide sponsored activity financial support. Will identify potential issues and possible solutions and bring them to the senior financial officer's attention so that long-term strategies can be developed; handle a complex research portfolio including all pre- and post-award management and serving as the point-of-contact for a designated set of PIs/faculty; handle invoice management for the department; and assist with project management as needed. Portfolio management (70%) will include budget and proposal development, grant proposal submissions, monitoring expenditures, analyzing financial reports, reviewing/approving purchasing transactions, processing no-cost extensions, account close-outs, clearing suspense salary charges, and assisting faculty with maintaining compliance with federal guidelines and MIT policies/procedures; performing FRCs and preparing account projection reports with different scenarios; and attending bimonthly financial meetings with the PIs that fall within the portfolio. Project management responsibilities (30%) will include working with senior FO on special projects, implementing new internal projection tools, clearing and developing a better process to address the large volume of pro-card transactions, and other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; at least three years' relevant financial management experience; knowledge of federal research regulations; experience in academic programs and administration; excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills; attention to detail; demonstrated sound judgment; ability to quickly meet short turn-around times; service orientation; and ability to multitask and perform hands-on work in a teambased work group. Knowledge of and experience with MIT financial systems and sponsored accounting would be helpful; as would proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), SAP, COEUS, and electronic proposal submission software.
