We are currently seeking an experienced and innovative person to be our Vice President of Technology. This new position leads all information technology and data services and is mission critical to serving our members. This position broadly includes Business Applications, IT Infrastructure, Cloud, Network Communications, Cyber Security, along with Data and Information Services. This position works collaboratively with senior leadership to develop and implement the goals, plans, objectives, and strategies of our organization.
Key Responsibilities & Results
Operations: Primary executive leader to create a resourced organization, coach its leaders, and provide technology and data services. Principal success metric is ongoing high levels of technology, service availability, and customer satisfaction. We are a Microsoft shop with a SQL Server backbone. We have an integrated suite of purchased applications to mimic an ERP while maintaining best in class technology.
Business Applications - Develop, acquire, maintain, and administer business applications required to support enterprise operations. Services include systems and business analysis and programming, and IT project management. Applications include CIS, SCADA, financial, outage management, work management, desktop and mobile work applications, and others.
IT Infrastructure, Cloud, and Network Communications - Maintain, operate, and administer IT infrastructure which includes; servers, storage, desktop and mobile hardware and software, printers and AV, help desk, all networks and related communications and cloud services, and staff/board telecommunications.
Cyber Security - Lead and manage the cyber security resources and processes to develop prevention, detection, and event response capabilities. Oversee the Cyber Incident Response team. Execute annual and ongoing assessments and training to keep pace with the threat environment. Establish controls and processes to mitigate and manage risks to our technology and data resources.
Data and Information - Overall accountability for development and implementation of data and information services. Provide as internal services, data applications and storage, software and hardware. Provide cross-functional support for data security across the enterprise. This role requires focus on data strategy, execution and support for projects, programs, application enhancements and production. Responsible for defining standards and best practices for data analysis, modeling, and queries. Customer support responsibility for data in mature applications like GIS, operations, finance, business development, and member services.
Strategy: Lead the ongoing evolution of technology and data strategy. Maintain broad market awareness of technology, data, and system trends to foresee Connexus opportunities. Selectively bring forward proposed initiates that enable new or advanced capabilities. Develop and maintain a technology plan (road map) that supports organizational needs in balance with budget resources. Evolve and enable the use and deployment of data to feed business intelligence and operating applications.
Executive Leadership: Collaborate and act to effect cooperative strategies, performance objectives, and policies. Organize and staff IT (20+ employees) to ensure the right technical skills, knowledge, and resource levels to meet IT objectives and enterprise expectations. Develop and propose division and strategic initiative budget resources.
Required Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education
Bachelor degree in information technology, computer science, or related field
Eight to ten years' experience in software development role, information technology role, data analytics, or related field
Minimum five years' experience in management or senior leadership role
Experience in budgeting, capital project justifications, and divisional financial management
Able to build strong interpersonal relationships throughout the company with peers, service leaders, and senior management
Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
Preferred Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education
Experience with technology relative to the electric distribution industry
Strong understanding of the electrical distribution industry or able to develop it quickly
MIS, MBA (technology management) or a technology-related discipline
