Provide routine and emergency maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to ensure safe, efficient and reliable electric plant operation. Operate and monitor plant auxiliary equipment to ensure safe, efficient and reliable plant operation.
Perform calibration, predictive, preventative and breakdown maintenance on a variety of complex industrial electrical, instrument & control systems to ensure plant availability and to maximize plant efficiency, including; •Power distribution and switch gear (120V to 6.9KV) •125/250 V Essential battery systems •Process instrumentation •Plant process control systems •Telecommunications/video conferencing •Physical security systems •Motors and motor controls •Lighting systems •Process communications and networking •Analytical measurement •Final control devices including valves, actuators and drive units •Electrical support services
Have a working knowledge of process software system design on computer based systems to troubleshoot and insure safe reliable operation. These systems include: •“SMART” instrumentation •Programmable Logic Controllers •Wired, wireless and fiber optic communication and control networks •Control network hardware and software security •Digital communication protocols •Distributed Control Systems •Micro processor based protection circuits •“HMI” (Human Machine Interfaces) •Variable frequency/speed drives
Maintain proficiency though continuous learning based competencies, to assure safety to self, others and equipment. Assure regulatory compliance various agencies including but not limited to: NFPA, OSHA, EPA, and the State Department of Health. •Participate in training and complete qualifications to support “Qualified Electrical Worker” requirements. •Review and recommend continuous improvement to maximize the implementation and effectiveness of Coal Creek Stations Electrical Safety Work Practices. •Identify and recommend skill specific training to enhance knowledge and skills for required safety, regulatory, process and/or system technologies as needed by plant ownership area.
Maintain detailed documentation records needed to support a safe and professional electrical, instrument & Control department including; •Properly document and hand off shift issues to insure completion •Electrical Schematics and drawings •Process SAMA diagrams •Vendor prints and manuals •Piping and Instrument diagrams •Computerized Maintenance Management System •Material Management System •Calibration records •Logic and Software Documentation •Regulatory and Environmental compliance records •Maintain detailed Logs
Qualify to the Plant Operations Auxiliary Operator level and provide support to the shift teams by assisting / acting in the capacity of Auxiliary Operator as needed
Facilitate and sustain the self-directed work team by following guidelines and process outlined in the team charter. •Demonstrate GRE employee competencies and values to help accomplish team objectives, department and plant goals along with GRE’s strategic imperatives, including customer and business focus and environmental stewardship. •Employ a high level of team building through active participation, knowledge sharing and mentoring, positive and constructive communication techniques with a focus on point to point, as well as individual responsibility and accountability. •Mentor each other to achieve success.
Knowledge and skill needed to perform all aspects of maintenance to complex industrial electrical and instrument & control systems, including maintenance management activities for immediate and long term needs
Ability to provide job direction and project coordination for minor and major process retrofits and new projects
Skills and ability to learn, interpret and follow standards, safety procedures, regulatory and environmental compliance practices in support of GRE’s safety program, environmental management system and Coal Creek Stations Electrical Safety Program.
Must have the ability to trouble shoot complex equipment and systems and possess strong personal computer literacy for record keeping, use of productivity applications, logic development and computerized equipment interface.
Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job. Must acquire plant specific equipment and process knowledge and demonstrate proficiency, in compliance with OSHA’s Qualified Electrical Worker requirement.
Must have the ability to read and interpret vendor and manufacture schematics and instruction manuals, plant procedures and work practices.
Must possess good mathematic, physics and writing skillsMust possess good customer relations, communication, and technical skills; is innovative, skilled in decision making, demonstrates teamwork and flexibility, focused on continuous learning, is business focused and demonstrates values for effective individual performance.
Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the plant site including climbing on pipe or scaffolding and perform maintenance inside vessels or confined spaces.
Must work around, over, and under large equipment, and work at heights.
Conditions include extreme temperatures, hot and cold, high noise levels, occasional heavy lifting, dusty, wet, electrical hazards and outside work under all weather conditions.
Can be called to work at any time day or night.
Required to work overtime and to work shift.
Must work around chemicals, gases, and high-pressure steam; and at times must travel away from regular work place.
Required to wear personal protective equipment.
