Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years of experience in developing visual stories from concept to execution. Experience in video concepting, scripting & editing, storyboard creation, and sound recording. Versed in lighting techniques. Proficiency in video and photography operation and production with D-SLR cameras. Proficiency in digital media software tools (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro CC, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.).
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Communications, Media Studies, English, Journalism, Graphic Design or related field. Additional years (4+) of experience in developing visual stories from concept to execution. Experience in graphic design, social media, photography, sound design & soundtracks, and color correction. Experience in managing projects from conception to organization and fulfillment. Experience with Content Management Software (CMS) (e.g. OmniUpdate, Wordpress or similar). Experience with Filemaker or other project management software.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Visual Storyteller/Editor's responsibilities are to lead, manage and produce video assets for publishing and sharing across the university's various owned channels (Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and YouTube and the University Website), shooting and editing videos, including stop motion and simple motion graphics. Work hand-in-hand with creative, content and social team members in the development of campaigns and videos.
Produce Video Content
Oversee, coordinate and deliver on video creation from creative conception and completion toward publishing and distribution. Write creative briefs and generate new and fresh ideas about stories and approaches to coverage that are most user-friendly and shareable. Interact and build relationships with college and department communicators and communications team members to build and broaden reach of stories as well as to uncover story opportunities. Produce content weekly or daily as needed.
Project manage visual driven productions
Manage visual-driven productions from conception to completion and serve as a manager of large and medium size projects and initiatives. Working with department partners and others on the Communications and Marketing team, create content to support the University's brand pillars and mission. Align work with the shared University content calendar, home page calendar and social media calendar, tracking to make sure efforts are aligned. Responsibility includes developing a creative brief for major projects and summary plans for smaller ones per Office of Communications and Marketing approved process.
Maintain and update projects on a shared annual project and content list.
Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and department mission.
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain the FLSA exemption.
