The Senior Operations Analyst, under general direction from the Deputy Director, Advancement Operations & Campaign (DD-AOC), is responsible for providing high-level analytical and project management services as well as for coordinating, analyzing, and managing business process, protocol, strategic planning, needs assessment, and systems-related projects in support of the Campaign for UC San Diego, Advancement-wide special projects, and critical operational initiatives within AOC.
The Senior Operations Analyst will work closely with colleagues Advancement-wide on high-level projects to ensure effective and efficient strategic planning, execution, and evaluation on a wide variety of campaign-related initiatives. The incumbent will provide complex analysis to understand Advancement's business needs for current/future fundraising campaigns, recommend business process, system-related, or strategic improvements.
Working in close partnership with the DD-AOC and AVC- AOC, the incumbent will manage the campaign operating plan to track ongoing strategic activities for the campaign, alerting management and proposing solutions for potential risks and roadblocks. The position will act as a liaison to subject matter experts, key stakeholders and system/technical leads within Advancement as well as to units outside of Advancement, especially the Chancellor's Office, to ensure effective procedures and business processes are in place to support collaboration and partnership on campaign operations initiatives.
The Senior Operations Analyst will work closely with the DD-AOC on key operational initiatives for AOC providing project management, analysis, business process optimization, needs assessments, and strategic planning for projects related to the core business operations of the unit. Will also oversee special projects/events related to the planning, ramp-up and execution of strategic campaign initiatives and other Advancement-wide operational initiatives as assigned.
The Senior Operations Analyst also develops business communications to support the campaign with a focus on translating complex data and trends into compelling, easy to understand presentations with clear, actionable insights.
The incumbent will use skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of analytical practices, policies and procedures; researches, analyzes and develops solutions to a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Primarily deals with policies, programs and proposals which are complex in nature and diverse in scope. Develops new programs, policies or procedures for possible implementation.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Five (5) years of demonstrated experience managing complex projects/programs or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven policy analysis techniques. Ability to assess procedures and define requirements to streamline business process and result in productivity improvement. Skilled at developing, writing and implementing operational and procedural and administrative policies, procedures, and practices.
Strong analytical/problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze information, situations, problems, policies and procedures; ask critical questions to gather all required information; separate problems from symptoms; identify potential solutions; apply solutions and formulate logical and objective conclusions from data and observations; communicate conclusions to a variety of personnel at various levels.
Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals/analyses.
Ability to use a variety of project management, financial, budgetary and communication software and apply knowledge to design and produce management reports/business communications.
Expert level of experience using MS Office applications especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to learn new and upgraded software and apply skills to current workload/project work. Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
Demonstrated ability to move quickly from an idea or concept to a completed project. Demonstrated experience being self-directed, taking initiative, intellectually curious.
