Corporate Services ("CS") provides a robust portfolio of global services utilized daily across the Firm to enable productivity, efficiency, safety, optimized business models and an enhanced employee experience in the workplace. We have approximately 5,500 resources (internal and external) and over 1,000 suppliers managing a multi-billion dollar scope of services including Real Estate and Property Management services, Travel services, Security & Investigation services, and Document / Information Management services including research, printing, etc
The Head of Project Management is the senior technical expert and end-to-end process owner for the project management function which includes oversight of multiple project types including interior fit-outs, infrastructure enhancements and traditional moves, adds and changes(MAC) activity. This position leads a team of internal(Morgan Stanley employees) and external(vendor partner) project managers and provides supervision and mentoring to the collective project management service delivery team.
Liaison and co-ordination with the other functional teams within the Real Estate & Location Strategy and Portfolio Transaction Management group within the Corporate Services department will be necessary to fulfill the requirements of the position. Project management falls under the function of Property Management, which also includes Amenities, Engineering and Property Services.
The portfolio consists of approximately 15 million square feet of commercial occupancy in leased and owned locations in the Americas including office, amenities, trading and branch network operating environments; all supporting Morgan Stanley's range of investment banking, securities, investment management and wealth management services.
Travel within region will be required from time-to-time to support
Primary Functional Roles & Responsibilities: · Foster a team environment and assure the development, alignment and implementation of standards, processes and best practices across a matrix managed organization; regionally and globally · Accountable for strategic leadership of the project management function and service delivery in the Americas · Formulates and executes on strategy to improve overall service delivery and outcomes for clients and the firm · Manages a staff of Morgan Stanley senior project managers and the outsourced project management vendor relationship as they implement strategic objectives that are aligned with the goals and objectives of Corporate Services and the firm · Drive a culture of talent development for all team members through proper goal setting, identification of training opportunities and a career growth focus · Development of creative and innovative project management solutions to maximize service delivery and client needs · Assures a focus on project risk management and mitigation including safe working practices in project delivery · Responsible for prudent budgeting and spend controls including a commitment to reporting and cost optimization programs · Develops, implements, and maintains sound business practices and policies to ensure quality service delivery for Morgan Stanley's portfolio and internal business clients · Lead and support efforts associated with the development and evolution of project management tools and service delivery platforms · Oversee the development of client briefs into full project specifications in conjunction with the Workplace design, Transaction Management, Property Management and other Corporate Services areas as appropriate · Demonstrates a commitment to integrity, excellence and development of a strong team work ethic
Cross-Functional Roles & Responsibilities: · Ensures engagement reviews with required stakeholders, a commitment to evolving policy and process, and quality assurance procedures take place for all projects · Act as the internal liaison to other Morgan Stanley service groups with a commitment to integration and collaboration between all Corporate Services and Property Management(Property Services, Amenity Services and Engineering Design) functions · Provide project management expertise and a commitment to standards, benchmarking, process, best practices, policy, compliance and risk mitigation · Develop relationships across Morgan Stanley to become a trusted advisor to colleagues, internal clients' and business units · Advise project managers on understanding the implications of different technical choices and guide them in directing the clients to the best solution for the enterprise · Reinforces team approach regionally throughout practice both on client projects and internal initiatives by partnering across all corporate services functions for a holistic approach · Active engagement with the Workplace and Design team to deliver and provide continuous improvement to the firms Workplace Evolution initiative · In conjunction with the procurement team, ensure that consultants and trade contractors are appointed in accordance with the established selection and purchasing procedures · Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies · Continually defines ways to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships
Skills & Qualifications: · 15+ years of experience in project management in corporate fit-outs, infrastructure and critical environments · Thorough understanding of the Real Estate and Project Management lifecycle and principles · Transformational leader with demonstrative capabilities in process optimization and organizational change management · Strong vendor management and commercialism skills, particularly in relationship to performance based contracting and strategic alliances/partnerships with service(s) providers · Ability to investigate, analyze, synthesize and apply complex information, problems, concepts and theories to a project management body of knowledge or practice · Previous experience in investment banking/financial services or critical system environments would be advantageous · Excellent communication, interpersonal and client service skills · Intermediate to advanced software skills including MS Office package(PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and working knowledge of a project management software tool such MS Project, or similar is required · Communicate professionally and effectively in a range of modes to various audiences to achieve targeted outcomes · An organized and self-disciplined individual with respect to time management and work processes
