Michigan Medicine’s Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery invites you to apply for a full-time position in Audiology. The Audiology staff supports the Department’s Mission to provide exemplary patient care, education and research that enhances our contributions to society.
As a member of Otolaryngology’s nerve monitoring group, the audiologist performs and interprets neurophysiologic activity intraoperatively. Once the required number of cases are completed, a request is made by our section chief and Dept Chair to have the individual hospital-credentialed at the appropriate level.
The staff audiologist also sees patients in the Oto clinic and/or satellite clinics in Oto supporting the physicians and APPs in those locations, an important role for formative preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative evaluations of patients who have various otologic, head & neck, neurologic and other surgical inpatient and outpatient procedures requiring cranial nerve monitoring. The IOM provider pipeline and the ability of Michigan Medicine to continue offering this kind of very unique service is critical to the overall growth strategy of our surgical department.

Audiology Doctoral or Master degree
State of Michigan Audiology license (or license eligible)
U-M Health System provider credentialing
Experience in real-time interpretation and reporting of intraoperative monitoring activity
Clinical experience including diagnostic audiologic testing, hearing aid dispensing and auditory electrophysiology
Intellectual inquisitiveness; industrious and attentive personal characteristics
The capacity and disposition to learn from colleagues, being led by standardized, staff-vetted policies and procedures that aim to ensure consistent, quality experiences for patients; new staff audiologists are provided with a clinical mentor.
Superior collaborative skills used within a care team that includes audiologists, physicians, nurses, allied health and support personnel
Experience with digital audiometric software and electronic medical records
Experience working in a very busy clinical environment
Experience working with technical support staff
