Bunker Hill Community College, a vibrant and diverse higher education learning environment in Boston, Massachusetts. We are seeking a Food Pantry Coordinator for a new on-campus food pantry called, the DISH. The DISH Coordinator will create and coordinate all processes, procedures and programs for the opening and on-going operation of the new pantry. This position is part of the Division of Student Affairs and reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Students.
Oversee all logistics, food procurement and distribution, collection and reporting of data, campus relations, art and design, social and digital media.
Conduct all on-boarding of all staff that work with the DISH.
Directly supervise student staff.
Assess client needs and make referrals to on-campus and off-campus resources.
As the ServeSafe Manager, supervise all interactions within the pantry to assure compliance with the highest food safety standards.
Assist potential student staff with gaining ServSafe certification prior to work at the pantry and monitor all certificates of completion each semester.
Work closely with the Greater Boston Food Bank and other donors to secure nutritious food and other basic needs to enhance student success at BHCC.
Create and execute sustainable strategies for weekly delivery of food.
Utilize a variety of technological software (i.e. Microsoft applications, productivity technology tools and social networking applications, etc.) for food inventory, pantry ordering by end users, communication and marketing materials.
Work directly with BHCC Foundation and established donors to the food pantry program, and coordinate food drives as needed.
Serve as the point person for any physical maintenance needs for the food pantry.
Perform related administrative duties, assignments, or special projects as required.
Utilize Chickering's Vector's to inform student program development, alignment with Institutional Learning Outcomes and the College's mission.
Stay current on national best practices in Student Affairs and College Food pantries and applie these principles.
Draft end of the year reports on all educational efforts and prepare Annual Unit Plans.
Assesses client needs and make referrals to on-campus and off-campus resources.
Sort, bag and distribute food to pantry users.
Maintain accurate records of food distribution and donations.
Assure 100% compliance with Department of Health..
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate on College committees as needed. Perform other related duties as required/assigned.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
ServSafe Foodservice Certificate.
Three or more years of experience supervising staff in a Food Pantry, Grocery Store, Convenience Store or Restaurant.
Able to provide support, timely feedback and clear communication to all staff.
Cultural awareness and competency demonstrated by working with and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities including ethnicity, race, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, gender identity, and veterans status as well as those with different levels of academic preparation and physical and learning abilities.
Competent in MS Word, Outlook and social media communication.
Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Valid driver's License in good standing. Ability to drive BHCC van with student staff and transport food.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stock pantry.
Prior work with College Students. Bachelors in Food Service Management, Nutrition, Culinary or related field.
Salary Range: $50,000.00-$60,000.00
Grade: 4, Unit-Professional position
