Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Human Resources Management at the Mailman School of Public Health, the incumbent has managerial and administrative responsibility for the collaborative implementation of best human resources practices and policies for the School and administrative responsibility and supervisory oversight for faculty affairs.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to providing strategic direction, organizational development and administrative management for human resources initiatives and functions including academic appointments and promotions, administrative recruitment and staffing, staffing analysis and reporting, performance management, employee and labor relations, progressive discipline, compensation, policies and procedures interpretation and communication; payroll and payroll processing, immigration matters and I-9 processing.
The incumbent will also act as the department liaison for internal and external constituents as well as perform other related duties, as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required plus, a minimum of five years progressively responsible human resources management experience.
PC proficiency including Word, Excel and PowerPoint plus, excellent oral / written communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills required. Proven ability to communicate collaboratively and effectively with all levels of staff. Strong project management experience and an appreciation for the importance of confidentiality.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Must have excellent supervisory and team-building skills.
Must have experience with leading and facilitating workshops and group meetings. Excellent presentation skills required.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree and experience in university or academic environment preferred.
