SENIOR USER EXPERIENCE DESIGNER , Open Learning-Engineering Department , to join a growing team with big ambitions to redefine the use of technology in teaching and learning at MIT and beyond. Responsibilities include creating world-class, user-centered designs through consideration of competitive research, business requirements, customer feedback, and usability study findings; ensuring the experience is usable, useful, and desirable and supports all critical business, brand, and learner/educator goals; designing the UI architecture, interface, and interaction flow of new web and mobile applications; developing conceptual flows, diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes to facilitate communication of designs to partners and stakeholders and for gathering user feedback; and engaging in usability testing and incorporating user preferences and usability findings into designs.

REQUIRED : at least five years' experience designing complex data rich applications for web and mobile; strong portfolio of work showing interaction and visual design artifacts such as high-fidelity wireframes, screen comps, functional prototypes, and design patterns; proficiency working with CSS, HTML, and design software tools; detail-orientation; and comfort with ambiguity and working self-sufficiently. Must be able to prioritize and adhere to deadlines while managing multiple projects; communicate clearly, persuasively, and diplomatically to a wide range of audiences; and work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and changing business environment. Experience creating accessible designs (WCAG 2.0 AA) preferred; as is a degree in human factors, interaction design, or a related field. Job #17178-Q
