Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Director, Change Management for the University Finance and Administration (UFA). This position reports to the Project Executive in the PMO of University Finance and Administration (UFA). The Director, Change Management leads change management activities for the University inclusive of, but not limited to, the strategic initiative under which the modernization of university-wide systems, re-design of business processes, and organizational structures is housed. This role serves as the primary thought leader and strategist for creating a unified identity and culture, standardized business practices, and improved collaboration across Rutgers University–New Brunswick, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, Rutgers University–Newark, and Rutgers University–Camden.The core responsibilities of the position are to apply a structured methodology that leads change management activities, work with the Senior Leadership teams across Rutgers to align leadership on new business models, lead workshops on innovative thinking to create transformation plans for the future, support communication efforts, assess the change impact, and support training efforts.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Develops and applies a change management process and tools to create a strategy to support adoption of the changes required for a project or initiative. This includes change activities such as supporting the design, development, delivery and management of communications; Identifying key stakeholders, conducting impact analyses, assessing change readiness and providing input, documents requirements as well as supporting the design and delivery of training programs.
Provides thought leadership and strategies for the development of a Change Leader and Change Champions network who work with the assigned Change Manager to implement day-to-day activities, including the development of Change Management strategies, methodologies, processes, technologies, and templates.
Leads and directs the Change Management function associated with these projects.
Applies quantitative and qualitative methods to measure the effectiveness of Change Management initiatives; adapts the tools and methodologies to enhance success; and reports the results to the Project Executive as well as project and executive sponsors at the direction of the Project Executive.
Conducts leadership sessions to identify organizational strengths and weaknesses for transforming the University to realize the University Presidents Strategic Plan.
Creates actionable deliverables for the key change management levers including but not limited to: Vision, Leadership alignment, stakeholder engagement, communications plan, change impact assessments, business readiness assessment, and post deployment planning which also includes specific attention to resistance management planning, sponsor roadmap, and developing coaching plans for leaders and project teams.
Supports and engages senior leaders and coaches managers and supervisors.
Supports organizational design and definition of roles and responsibilities.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant area of study from an accredited institution
Requires a minimum of 5 years' progressive experience working in a Change Management position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires experience leading large-scale projects and managing project teams.
A solid understanding of how people go through a change and the change process
Ability to engage senior leadership and provide coaching for successful leadership styles through organizational transformation efforts
Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent active listening skills
Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations
Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics
Problem solving and root cause identification skills
Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization
Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others
Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges
Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle
An advanced degree
7years' relevant professional experience in a leadership role.
Project Management Professional (PMP) credentials;
Change management certification or designation
