Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking an Edit/Media Specialist. Reports to the Senior Public Relations Manager at the Rutgers Business School. The Edit/Media Specialist II is responsible for developing and executing a clearly defined social media strategy in a manner that supports marketing & alumni support initiatives while increasing brand equity and online awareness. The duties includes but not limited to the following: -Creates original digital communications for social media – written stories, short videos, photos, infographics and other artwork – aimed at using social media to attract prospective students and engage stakeholders across all degree programs. -With guidance from the Senior Public Relations Manager, determines what digital content to pursue and communicate across each program's social media platforms. -Organizes a comprehensive social media editorial calendar, and facilitates conversations via social media to engage prospective students with RBS programs, admissions and alumni. -Analyzes and evaluate both existing and potential social media activities and strategies to implement best digital communications practices at RBS. -Develops benchmark criteria to measure the effectiveness of social media programs. -Implements improvements as required and deliver timely reports to the Executive Director of Communications on the effectiveness of RBS social media strategy. -Travel among both the Newark and New Brunswick campuses is required. Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communication, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge, skill, and understanding of writing, formatting, editing, proofreading, publishing, promotional advertising, organization, coordination, and/or facilitation. Good communication skills, and computer literacy to include industry standard software.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience. Must have advanced knowledge of social media communications and digital marketing principles and practices, Google analytics, and graphic design concepts. Requires strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills and the ability to handle multiple, shifting priorities. Also requires the ability to think strategically and handle complex organizational detail.
-Project management skills: can set realistic goals and timelines, develop plans for realizing goals, and implement programs according to plan. -Communications Background – news sense – professional who can relate to alumni -Writing & copy editing -Graphic design & video editing for social media -Technology tools for enhancing social media profile and maximizing engagement (e.g. Camtasia or other Online Content Curation platforms) -Data collection and data management -Entrepreneurial -Always Connected, Always Online
-Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc -High ability in Excel managing database -Knowledge of Salesforce, Pardot, Marketo or other marketing automation platforms -Photo and video editing on smart devices
