JobDescription : Role Purpose The Lean Specialist (LS) - Business Transformation (BT) supports the continued evolution of the Lean Management across Ratings within the Strategic Operations' Business Transformation team. This team is responsible for providing Lean Management expertise and cross-functional support for the continuous improvement and optimization of Lean Management (WWW) across Ratings. This supports the overall objective of the BT team to effectively combine digital technologies and operations capabilities by optimizing how Lean is used across Ratings.
The Lean Specialist will work as part of a focused team of Lean experts providing coaching, technical expertise and strategic thinking; applying this to Lean process optimization, problem solving and support for value-stream related initiatives. The Lean cohort will work across Ratings on a demand-driven basis to address specific opportunities and challenges. With Lean expertise as a key component of the digital transformation agenda the Lean Specialist will partner closely with Business Management and other members of the Business Transformation team to deliver integrated solutions.
A key part of the ongoing evolution of Lean in Ratings will be the maintenance and administration of the certification and academy programs. The Lean Specialist will provides hands-on support for the operations and administration of the programs.
Combining the Lean-based process expertise with technology solutions will be a key part of this role along with supporting each practice in operationalizing change resulting from Tier 3 and 4 initiatives. The Lean Specialist will support Business Management and the Business Transformation team in defining actionable KPIs and metrics leveraging a consistent framework.
For Lean Specialist roles with regional accountability, the role will combine the specific Lean responsibilities with a broader mandate to support digital transformation related activities across a variety of areas. This will involve flexibility and adaptability to meet local requirements while maintaining discipline around core principles including standardization and consistency.
Work as part of a small cohort of Lean experts and as part of the broader Digital Transformation team
Providing technical expertise, hands-on support for specific projects, problem solving exercises, workshops and other activities where Lean plays a role
Supporting certain value-stream aligned initiatives focused on operational and process improvement
Operationalizing the Lean Academy program and the Lean certification program
Execution of priorities supporting the organizations long-term strategy for Lean
Support the Digital Transformation team with operationalizing a robust and consistent measurement and KPI approach that drives action and transparency of performance against objectives
Partners with Business Management to support specific Tier 3 initiatives and provides consulting support to problem solving activities and workshops.
Capabilities & Key Attributes
Practical experience in Lean Management is essential along with practical experience in coaching, Lean deployments and Lean projects
The role requires a sound understanding of S&P Global Ratings' business, ideally with experience working across multiple functions. As a cross-practice role, the SLS will need to be up-to-speed on developments, operations and issues across multiple and diverse business areas.
A strong customer focus is required which requires understand of who our customers are and how they use our products.
As an Associated role the SLS will operate across functions and firewalls to deliver solutions
Expertise and experience in Agile roles, processes and philosophy is required. This is critical to role in developing partnerships, modeling behaviors and developing team capabilities.
Background & Experience
7+ Years in Industry: Financial Services or related
Experience working on complex initiatives highly valued
Exposure to different parts of the organization in a variety of roles preferable
