CIRCULATION AND PRODUCTION MANAGER , MIT Technology Review , to oversee, execute, and analyze all circulation-related activity and the print production of MIT Technology Review magazine. Responsibilities include accepting magazine page map for the design team and acting as liaison to the editorial advertising departments; overseeing the creation and optimization of press-ready files; running ads through preflight software for quality control, creating a color guidance proof, furnishing the ad sales department with estimates of special unit costs, and performing all the maintenance and supply orders for the proofer; estimating and managing printing of the bind in, blow in, and out-/onserts for issues; creating specialized PDFs for digital content distributors; creating the master print-manufacturing (production) schedule; acting as liaison with and managing USPS matters regarding permits and associated paperwork; creating, maintaining, and distributing standard/ad hoc reports; serving as the point-of-contact for third-party relationships/contracts; producing and tracking expense budgets; collaborating with the finance team on bid management and print contract negotiations; performing activities related to the publication audit and publisher's statement; and managing creative, operational, and production processes for all renewal and invoicing promotions (online and offline, print and digital).
REQUIRED : a B.A./B.S. in marketing, communications; five years' circulation management experience and at least three years' hands-on experience in print production; experience in the qualitative and quantitative aspects of direct response retention marketing, including direct mail; experience with postal regulations; proven vendor management and negotiation skills; strong organizational, project management, and written and verbal communication and presentation skills; and ability to multitask and work effectively across the organization.
