We seek a dynamic individual to oversee all aspects of the DataX project, including hiring, staff supervision, budgets, financial planning and reporting, research activity coordination and event planning. The Project Manager will be tasked with building community among researchers and proactively responding to challenges as the project develops.
This individual reports to the Assistant Director on all matters related to the project, and will work closely with the CSML Director and Assistant Director to develop and implement new research and educational initiatives that are currently under development at CSML.
This exciting opportunity is a three-year term position with the possibility of renewal based on funding and performance.
Coordinate the operations of the research collaboration and outreach of the DataX project;
Participate in the hiring of new research scientists;
Synthesize scientific findings and project milestones into semiannual summary reports;
Write an annual report to the sponsor;
Organize and host sponsor site visits in collaboration with research partners, and support and coordinate various initiatives for the project.
Oversee and plan for the overall project as well as seed fund research projects;
Assure project and grant compliance with all university and partner financial and research policies.
Coordinate all events and meetings related to the project;
Coordinate multiple workshops with faculty members (which may require a flexible schedule for the event days).
It is also expected that the project manager will proactively propose solutions, strategies and events and will seek ways to enhance data science education and research. Other duties may assigned as the project develops and expands.
Bachelor's degree and/or a minimum of 4-6 years of work experience.
Minimum of 5 years experience in an administrative positions that includes financial administration and event planning;
Demonstrated experience in budget management and oversight of financial operations;
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines;
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and work independently while maintaining great attention to detail;
Team player who is comfortable taking initiative and works well with others including faculty, visitors, administrators, staff, & students;
Ability to adapt and succeed in a flexible environment;
Excellent interpersonal communication skills (both written and oral).
Direct experience in University-level research and teaching;
Knowledge and understanding of software engineering; languages used and needs;
Experience in an academic environment and familiarity with Princeton University applications (Prime Financials);
Experience with outreach, advertising and publicity;
Project management skills;
Proven experience with building communities;
Prior involvement with statistics and/or machine learning.
