Departmental Overview The Haas School of Business develops path bending leaders - individuals who redefine how we do business. Berkeley-Haas, the second oldest business school in the United States, educates 2,200 students each year in six degree-granting programs, and hundreds more through executive education programs. A team of 300 staff members support these students, faculty and alumni through work in areas that include Admissions, Student Services, Career Management, Administration, Development and Alumni Relations.

The Development and Alumni Relations team at Berkeley Haas engages and cultivates alumni, parents, friends, corporations and foundations to advance the vision and mission of the school, inviting these key constituencies to provide volunteer leadership and make philanthropic investments in support of the school's students, faculty and programs.
The Associate Director of Student & Recent Graduate Philanthropy will spearhead our cross-school efforts to further instill a culture of philanthropy among our current students and recent graduates. The Associate Director will be an integral part of our development and alumni relations team and collaborate closely with colleagues across our school and campus. The Associate Director will independently recruit, train, and manage student volunteers, and design and manage the student fundraising campaign in partnership with these volunteers. The Associate Director will also oversee our Alumni Challenge Matches and Committees, consisting of leadership-level donors to our school. The Associate Director will cultivate, engage, solicit, and steward leadership-level donors and prospects among our recent graduates, as defined as MBA graduates of the last five years and Undergraduates of the last ten years. The Associate Director will have both budgetary and revenue generating responsibilities, and will play a key strategic role in our school's efforts to enhance our reputation and financial strength
Responsibilities Student Gift Campaigns:
Design, manage, and implement a comprehensive school-wide student philanthropy program and student gift campaigns.
Raise $120,000 from over 700 student donors.
Recruit, train, and manage our VPs of Philanthropy volunteers across our four main degree programs (Undergraduate and Full-Time, Evening-Weekend & Executive MBAs) to be philanthropic ambassadors for Berkeley Haas.
Host and present at student meetings.
Marketing, Communications & Appeals:
Create, design, and implement a culture of philanthropy communication and marketing plan for all four major degree programs, leveraging various relevant voices and mediums including print, e-mail, web, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.
Alumni Donor Challenge Match Committees:
Design, oversee, and manage four alumni donor challenge matches and committees, and leverage alumni to further instill messaging to students regarding supporting Berkeley Haas.
Oversee four Alumni Challenge Match Committees which reflects over $250,000 in annual revenue.
Design and promote campaign kick-off events that inspire leadership giving and donor participation among students and campaign celebration wrap-up events.
Collaborate with events team on event space and catering logistics, collaborate with student volunteers on event promotion and execution, and collaborate with fundraisers on stewarding alumni donor challenge match committee members.
Create program agenda and dean's event briefing. Manage event budget.
Crowdsourcing & Crowdfunding:
Partner with Director of Crowdfunding at University Development & Alumni Relations to leverage crowdsourcing and crowdfunding to support campaigns.
Donor Stewardship & Gift Administration:
Create systems with Advancement Services to ensure timely tracking and reporting of student campaigns, and proper stewardship of student donors and leadership donors.
Fundraising & Prospect Management
Develop and manage a prospect portfolio consisting of recent graduates that are leadership donors or prospects.
Actively and personally engage leadership prospects regarding their increased engagement with and philanthropic giving to Berkeley Haas.
Oversee 100+ leadership donors and prospects that reflect over $200,000 in annual revenue.
Co-Lead Culture of Giving Initiatives
Serve as co-lead on our school's Culture of Giving initiative, which is a major component of our school's long-term Strategic Plan.
Facilitate meetings and collaborate with fellow co-lead, our school's dean and senior leadership team, colleagues across our school and campus, and our students, alumni, and faculty to further instill a culture of giving back to Berkeley Haas among our students and recent graduates.
Work on special programs as assigned
Thorough working knowledge and understanding of fundraising, donor relations and public relations concepts, principles, techniques, procedures and practices.
Demonstrated experience in managing and motivating leadership level prospects and donors.
Demonstrated experience in recruiting, empowering and stewarding volunteers.

Ability to articulate a compelling case for annual discretionary support for higher education, as well as the rationale and goals of a leadership giving program.

Able to occasionally travel (predominantly within California, with occasional out-of-state domestic travel) and work week nights and weekends.
Ability to use standard computer technology (word, excel, power point) and donor/customer relationship management databases.
Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Experience in higher education fundraising and personal (face-to-face) fundraising for leadership level gifts of between $1,000 and $100,000
Knowledge of and appreciation for UC Berkeley and the Haas School of Business' mission, history and goals
Salary & Benefits The annual salary range of the position is up to $105,000, commensurate with experience.
