Manage of a variety of both day to day and strategic human resources generalist functions for the various employee groups within the College of Nursing, as well as temporary staff, including (as applicable): job evaluation, recruitment, performance management, compensation, employee relations processes. ; Interpret and apply federal and state employment laws, University human resources policies and terms of collective bargaining agreements; Where manifesting issues signal underlying process improvement opportunities, devise solutions to remedy such. Mentor and coach junior staff.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Human Resources Management or related area
Required Experience: 5+ years years of increasingly responsible professional-level experience as a human resources generalist or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include in depth knowledge of a variety of areas in human resources and experience managing staff, administrative process and projects.
Preferred Experience: Relevant professional-level experience as a human resources generalist in an academic environment. Experience in a union environment. PHR/SPHR Certification.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Well developed planning, analytical, interpersonal, and negotiating skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Broad knowledge of human resources concepts, practices, legislation, and procedures. Ability to develop and interpret policies and procedures, to interact effectively with a diverse population at all levels, and to facilitate decision making. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Excellent organizational, interviewing, problem solving, and negotiating skills. Ability to manage issues as a systems thinker. Knowledge of human resources concepts, practices, legislation, and procedures. Ability to supervise work processes and staff. Ability to interpret and effectively communicate policies and procedures and resolve problems for a diverse population. Knowledge of standard office software. Ability to project manager small to medium scale projects.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Human Resources certification (SHRM or other accredited certificate program). Working knowledge of HRIS/ HRMS systems. Professional-level human resources experience in an academic related environment. Demonstrated experience in project management skills. Experience developing and delivering learning solutions using a variety of formats (e-learning, instructor led, and/or blended learning.) Experience in instructional design and training methodologies.
