Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Executive Director, Administration and Planning for the Center for Undergraduate Global Engagement, the incumbent provides budget, and operational support as well as supports project management for a range of business functions.
THIS POSITION IS GRANT-FUNDED. CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT IN THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON ONGOING SUFFICIENT FUNDING.
-Assist in the development, integration, and maintenance of administrative and operational infrastructures to support and advance local and global operations
-Work with the Executive Director to create, advance, and continuously refine data focused strategies and resources
-Support the development and maintenance of ad hoc reporting tools to assist and inform a diverse group in decisions regarding budgets, finance, and other business related operations
-Participate in budget and operational analysis and forecasting to identify discrepancies and anomalies, explain variances, and inform planning and decision making
-Provide ground level support for technology needs and act as a liaison to the central information technology offices when needed
-Help research trends, best practices, benchmarking, and enterprise optimization for technology, administration, and budget/finance within higher education and international education
-Support the preparation of hiring and appointment paperwork for administrative and academic appointments for global education programs. Maintain accurate appointment files according to University policies and helps ensure compliance with hiring processes
-Assist with the international and local financial activities of assigned programs and initiatives, including, but not limited to, the accurate and prompt processing, verification, and coding of expenses for all invoices, reimbursements, check requests, travel advances, cash deposits, and wire transfers, in Columbia's financial systems
-Perform other related duties as assigned
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND/OR EXERCISED: The incumbent will report directly to the Executive Director, Administration and Planning for Planning for the Center for Undergraduate Global Engagement
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR BUDGET/ASSETS: The incumbent will have no signature authority over departmental accounts
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required. At least two years of related experience required.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Proven background in processing large volumes of transactional work on a day-to-day basis, while managing other simultaneous short term and longer term projects. Must have knowledge of generally accepted accounting and financial practices to manage and process accurate and timely payments to our partners, both external and internal. Aptitude to compile, manipulate, and analyze data and present to end-users in a useful manner. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with web based applications and business solutions. Must be a self-starter and capable of operating with minimal supervision. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with a strong customer service focus. Ability to exercise discretion and handle confidential information. Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferably in Accounting or Business Administration or a directly related field. Preference for experience in higher education, non-profit, and/or complex organization, especially with supporting global education activities. Knowledge of the PeopleSoft Financials or a similar type financial management application preferred.
