Advertised Summary Job Description: The Salesforce Software Developer designs, develops, and maintains custom Salesforce CRM based applications for Columbia College. The Developer is responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting custom applications to meet the business needs of Columbia College. The incumbent works closely with the Executive Director and College staff to translate business needs and requirements into custom functionality built in Salesforce.
-Works with the Director, Software Development to develop custom software in response to the evolving needs of the various populations served by the organization including alumni, students, prospective students, parents, staff, faculty, and employers.
-Collaborates with internal clients to assist with defining strategy, content, and features for their applications.
-Participates in the day-to-day operations of applications and systems for Columbia College Information Technology (CCIT) in support of the College's administrative departments.
-Develops feature enhancements and upgrades for in-house applications. Fixes bugs and deploys updated software.
-Engages in unit, integration, and acceptance testing of Salesforce applications.
-Produce technical and end user documentation for Salesforce application.
-Monitors components of the College's Salesforce platform.
-Apply Salesforce and industry standard best practices to the Salesforce platform.
-Manage multiple projects with varying timeframes and deliverables based on priorities, schedule, and resources.
-Works closely with the College's Salesforce managing committee consisting of the Executive Director, Information Technology and Strategic Analytics; Director, Software Development; Director, Data and Analytics; Salesforce Administrator.
-Other duties as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or its equivalent required. A minimum of three (3) years of related experience required.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: -Familiarity and experience with project management principles and practices.
-Knowledge and experience with modern web software development practices, including testing, software design, security, and the software lifecycle.
-Exposure to key areas of enterprise architecture, including integration technologies, single sign on, and data management.
-Experience and understanding of relational databases.
-Experience with the Salesforce development ecosystem, including Apex, SOQL, SOSL, Lighting, and Visualforce. Experience with PHP or other modern web programming languages (Python, Ruby, Node.js) may be used as a substitute for Salesforce experience.
-Implement new enhancements including creation of custom objects, workflows, validation rules, approval processes, flows, flow triggers, and email alerts.
-Outstanding attention to detail, as well as ability to conceive of the larger picture in relation to strategic planning required.
-Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under short and changing deadlines, while ensuring timely and accurate execution.
-Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
-Proven record of collaborative and independent work.
-Ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion, and tact in a professional setting.

Preferred Qualifications: -Experience with the Salesforce Higher Education Data Architecture (HEDA) model.
-Understanding of key Salesforce architectural concepts (e.g. API and governor limits, security models, and techniques).
-Ability to analyze, design, and optimize business processes via new Salesforce technology, API integrations, or other AppExchange products.
-Salesforce.com Certified Developer (DEV 401).
