We are seeking a dynamic, motivated individual to perform program technical support and curricular functions working with learners in global health. The Senior Research Program Coordinator will manage the establishment and maintenance of a database of learning activities. They will also support the development and implementation of a set of tailored learning activities for 150+ global health fellows. The ideal candidate will have experience working in technical support roles in professional teams and demonstrates cross-cultural competence and sensitivity.
The Health Systems (HS) Program of the Department of International Health focuses on the design and implementation of equitable, cost-effective strategies to improve health and health services for disadvantaged and underserved communities across the globe. Disciplines represented on the HSP faculty include epidemiology, economics, evaluation, demography, statistics, health policy analysis, medicine and philosophy. The HS Program engages in research and practice around health intervention implementation and scale-up, bioethics, program evaluation, refugee health and disaster response, formative and qualitative research, health economics, among others bringing their experience and scholarship to major research, training, and capacity-building projects in low- and middle-income countries.

Sustaining Technical and Analytical Resources (STAR) program
Sustaining Technical and Analytic Resources (STAR) is a five-year U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) project. STAR is a capacity-building and learning project led by the Public Health Institute in collaboration with its partners, including Johns Hopkins University (JHU). STAR's goals are twofold: (1) through tailored Fellowships, to strengthen the capacity of diverse health professionals around the world to make innovative contributions to global health; and (2) to facilitate connections between US and international academic institutions for open knowledge sharing systems and sustainable partnerships. JHU will provide learning and training support for the STAR program, specifically its fellows, through individualized learning plans, access to learning opportunities and mentorship.
STAR PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
IMPROVE CAPACITY - Place Fellows/Interns outside and within USAID to build their technical and cultural competencies, and the capacity of developing country's global health programs.
PROVIDE A CAREER-BUILDING EXPERIENCE Strengthen the pool of health professionals globally through tailored learning curricula and field experiences.
DIVERSIFY THE GLOBAL HEALTH WORKFORCE Provide opportunities to diverse health professionals who mirror the populations USAID serves globally to build their skills and gain exposure to international health programs.
FOSTER KNOWLEDGE SHARING Improve collaborative systems and long-term, sustainable partnerships for open exchange and utilization of information, research, and educational resources.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Working in conjunction with the STAR learning director and curriculum officer, the Project Coordinator will provide key support across three STAR activities: Facilitation of learning activities at JHU for STAR fellows/interns, project management and monitoring and evaluation JHU STAR activities, and communication initiatives. In addition to these three core activities, the Project Coordinator will help initiate and maintain relations among various JHU affiliate projects, teams, and individual that are relevant to the STAR program. As a member of a small team working on ambitious goals, we seek a candidate who thrives in a fluid workplace, is nimble and resourceful.
Specific duties include but are not restricted to:
Contribute to the development, review and implementation of learning activities plans for 150+ STAR fellows annually at JHU, including primary responsibility for developing draft plans and seeking opportunities to fill identified gaps
Contribute to the onboarding and orientation processes for STAR fellows at JHU
Development and maintain a database of vetted courses and trainings, including JHU offerings as well as others, with support from the entire Learning team
Collate and synthesize STAR fellow feedback of JHU learning activities
Contribute to ongoing program evaluation, enhancement and/or new initiatives.
Contribute to STAR Annual Workplan, Management Review and Results Review processes.
Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline required.
Three years related experience required.
Interest, experience, and/or education in public health or a related field highly
Experience traveling to and/or working with partners and/or colleagues from and in low- and middle-income country (LMIC) settings
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
* JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis.
