Required Qualifications: Doctoral Degree or foreign equivalent degree. Training in computer science OR training in engineering OR training in Clinical, Pathology or Radiology Informatics.
Preferred Qualifications: PhD or MD in related field. Three years of experience in deep learning applied to clinical and research BioMedical Informatics.
Brief Description of Duties: The Department of Biomedical Informatics seeks a postdoctoral fellow for a research position in deep learning applied to clinical and research biomedical informatics. Projects will span clinical decision support and precision medicine involving application of deep learning and other machine learning methods to optimize healthcare decision making, anticipate impact and better target clinical treatments, and to impute missing clinical information. Components of this work will encompass analysis of Pathology and Radiology images as well as clinical information.
The incumbent will work independently and with colleagues to conduct research and ensure that all projects are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University and the funding agency, if any. The incumbent will assist the Principal Investigator with the supervision and management of the project and the project team.
Carry out independent and/or teach research in the field of deep learning, machine learning, vision and/or natural language processing methods applied to clinical and research Biomedical Informatics. Will design and develop the research projects and tools to achieve research goals.
Analyze and evaluate data, utilizing specialized techniques.
Manuscript writing for publications in scientific journals. Oral presentation during lab meetings. May attend conferences and seminars.
Project management, including oversight/supervision of Undergraduate and/or Graduate students, Research Technicians, or provide training in various research methods.
Other duties as assigned.
