Manager of Electric Shop - Facilities & Services 10201
The Facilities Management unit of the Division of Facilities & Services at West Virginia University is accepting applications for a Manager of the Electrical shop. This position will be responsible for the overall operations of electrical and lock shops, and will manage skilled trade personnel and technical programs designed to control maintenance, repair, and alteration of University Facilities with regard to Facilities Management operation. This position will also ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local codes and WVU Policies. Facilities Management seeks to attract a highly skilled manager in a very competitive field of experience.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Set vision and develop departmental goals and objectives to deliver highly technical maintenance skills and timely services to exceed customer expectations. Provide leadership to the staff through continuous feedback as to effectiveness, performance, quality, and customer service.
Develop, implement, train and measure staff performance based upon department objectives and metrics. Train staff on proper safety procedures and observe workforce in the field to assure compliance. Assess employee skill levels and identify appropriate training for improvement.
Develop and execute operating and personal budget in excess of $1M. Develop and implement plans for repair and maintenance to include identification, prioritization, budget development, design and scheduling. Ensure that associated maintenance, repair, and alterations request meet all applicable codes and deadlines.
Assist staff, engineers and Project Managers to evaluate chronic issues and to creatively seek alternatives. Seek new repair methods to extend equipment life cycle to match replacement schedule.Assist in developing written policies and procedures for improving operational functions, safety, and defining of processes, shutdown processes, and safety QC. This will require a forward looking individual with vision and the ability to properly research issues or solutions and the ability to present ideas and thoughts in a professional manner.
The Division of Facilities and Services encompasses seven units that are integral to the University's success. Each of our units employs talented and skilled workers whose jobs range from planning and managing construction of the institution's outstanding facilities to maintaining, protecting and improving the University's buildings and grounds. Facilities and Services takes care of every aspect of WVU so that its employees, students and guests are safe and satisfied on campus.
Work Hours: Monday-Friday; 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Systems Engineering; any equivalent combination of education and/or experience, which provides an applicant with the listed knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job, is acceptable.
At least four (4) years of experience in Facilities Engineering with focus on electrical, electronics and integration of various infrastructure components and/or systems and managing of electrical staff.
Valid driver's license
