The Sr. Research Program Coordinator II will work as part of our productive, collaborative research team at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. For over twenty-five years, our team has been dedicated to conducting high‐quality, utilization‐focused evaluation and research work across the United States, with a specific focus on the evaluation of home visiting programs which serve expectant families and families with young children.
The Sr. Research Program Coordinator II will be part of the research team carrying out activities related to New Jersey's initiatives to improve access to early childhood services, including a project aiming to: improve the coordination of early childhood resources; encourage partnerships among stakeholders; and maximize parental choice among a mixed delivery system of early childhood care and education program providers.
The Sr. Research Program Coordinator II will support the project through contributing to the planning and oversight of evaluation activities, including the synthesis of cross-departmental needs assessments into a single statewide needs assessment defining existing resources, goals, and gaps in services; gather and synthesize input from multi-level NJ stakeholder groups to develop a strategic plan in collaboration with participating state agencies; and assist in the design and implementation of a mixed methods evaluation to determine the extent to which the project carries out intended activities and achieves intended outcomes using existing and new data gathered through qualitative and quantitative approaches. Applicants must be able to work independently in a self-directed fashion while managing multiple tasks.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Provide overall project management for the needs assessment, strategic plan, and program evaluation and assure that the project adheres to study timelines and institutional policies
Communicate with state leadership across multiple departments to establish a statewide strategic plan for early childhood services
Assist in the planning of evaluation activities, including identifying primary outcome indicators based on the strategic plan and project logic model
Be available to travel to New Jersey regularly and as needed to meet with stakeholders
Maintain all project related files in secure database and assure study files are organized and current. Maintain the confidentiality of the data files and documentation.
Identify challenges faced by the project and aid team in brainstorming strategies to address new/recurring challenges.
Hire, train and supervise research assistants for all aspects of project
Communicate regularly with team members to provide updates about completion of project activities.
Use skills to carry out data analyses and interpretation of results and convert results into figures and/or graphs for reports, presentations, and publications.
Assist with progress reporting to funders and the wider research team, including writing and preparation of evaluation reports and presentations.
Lead communication activities among evaluation staff and research partners
Attend all regular training/team meetings with supervisor and other team members. (These meetings may occur on a weekly or monthly basis).
Perform other study-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in related discipline.
Related Master's preferred
Five (5) years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job. *
Master's degree in related discipline, including early childhood education, child development, public health, public policy, epidemiology, biostatistics, economics or similar discipline preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidate must have outstanding organizational skills, be able to manage complex projects with diverse stakeholders, and have experience with mixed methods research. This position requires strong analytical and data translation skills as well as proficiency with data visualization and basic statistical methods using programs such as SPSS, SAS, or STATA. Candidates must be skilled in the analysis and interpretation of survey data and other secondary data sets and the dissemination of study findings through written and oral communications. Candidates must be able to work independently as well as communicate and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
