Advertised Summary Job Description: The Institute for Genomic Medicine is recruiting for a Scientific Research Project Manager who will support IGM leadership as we work to bring our genomics expertise to help overcome key challenges in drug development. The Scientific Research Project Manager manages research related activities within scientific program areas, including precision medicine and drug development, with particular focus on management and coordination of ongoing research projects with key industry partners. The Research Project Manager may be assigned a portfolio of PIs and/or lab groups to support. The incumbent reports directly Department Administrator.
Working with senior IGM leadership team, the incumbent will play a key role in the coordination of all efforts of the investigators and staff involved in the scientific program aspects of IGM studies. -Under the guidance of the Department Administrator, assist researchers in the coordination of research projects to ensure that all goals and deliverables are reached. -Review proposed statements of work (SOWs) from funders to ensure thorough understanding of project specifications, timelines, and deliverables, and communicate requirements to project team -Manage and lead meetings of working groups to assure timely completion of work plan from conception to deliverable -Confer with staff involved in the execution of studies to ensure compliance with study workplans, protocol guidelines and adherence to requirements of funding agencies; identify issues and take action as appropriate -Act as liaison between external collaborators and the IGM staff
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: This position requires an understanding of the scientific, academic and administrative needs of an active and robust organization as well as a strong background in scientific administration; -Exceptional analytical, research and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail required; -Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including strong editing skills, are necessary, with the ability to give clear and concise presentations of complex and/or scientific material. -Demonstrated ability to forge partnerships and work collaboratively; must be a team player. -Must be able to function independently and exercise discretion and judgment in sensitive and potentially controversial matters. Broad computer skills required, including Word, Excel, Power-Point, budgetary tools and data management and analysis.
Preferred Qualifications: -Ph.D. in Genomic or Biological Sciences or Master's Degree preferred. -Experience with managing scientific programs including staff management and experience with Human Subjects research.
