As directed by the Research Navigator Manager, the OCTRI Research Navigator Research Assistant is responsible for supporting investigator liaison and protocol implementation activities for the Oregon Clinical and Translational Research Institute (OCTRI)The primary duties of this position are to coordinate investigator requests for OCTRI services to ensure a smooth flow of services for the investigator. S/he will assist the Research Navigator Manager with the implementation of solutions to integrate, triage and coordinate investigator services and assuring appropriate regulatory compliance approvals are obtained prior to providing services. S/he will review research protocols to determine the required level of OCTRI regulatory oversight tracking based on utilization of OCTRI services, human subjects\u2019/animal involvement and funding information. It is essential that the person in this role have experience in comprehension of research protocols and knowledge of human subject regulations governing the conduct of clinical research.
The Navigator Assistant collects and maintains data regarding investigator projects that utilize OCTRI services. S/he uses internal tracking systems to follow up with investigators, and OCTRI Program Directors/Managers/staff, OHSU IRB, IACUC staff to collect information related to OCTRI projects, requests, services, funding and investigators as needed. The ability to interface with scientists, clinicians and research staff from across campus in a helpful and efficient manner is necessary. S/he should have outstanding customer service orientation and the ability to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds with a problem solving approach. The person in this position should have strong follow through and skills to ensure tasks/projects are completed with both internal and external partners. Excellent communication skills both written and oral are essential to this role. Prior experience in study start up activities and project management are desirable.
