This position manages the strategic operations of the pharmacy while ensuring safe, effective and progressive quality pharmaceutical care. Enhance all aspects of pharmacy operations including patient intake, customer service and utilization management. Position responsibility also includes developing and implementing a System-wide strategic Pharmacy expense management program.
Pursuant to clinical needs and in partnership with the clinical team establishes pharmacy operations objectives, implements and monitors objectives to ensure outcomes are in alignment with established system performance goals.
Leads the Pharmacy expense management program including negotiating and managing purchasing contracts and generating new revenue opportunities through optimum utilization, elimination of waste and cost reductions.
Partners with Clinical Pharmacy and creates and/or refines processes and systems consistent with processes found in large established specialty pharmacy environments.
In partnership with the clinical pharmacy creates and develops new sustainable pharmacy business models that aim to transform the healthcare industry to lower costs, improve money flow, and improve quality and patient satisfaction.
Serves in a leadership role with other senior leaders to establish strategic direction and financial planning for pharmacy services.
Oversees project management activities that are instrumental to implementation of key initiatives and increasing pharmacy usage in our outpatient settings.
Supports business development activities by always being on top of the industry and implementing changes to ensure continuous efficiency and effectiveness of pharmacy services.
Works closely with supply chain to ensure safe and cost-effective procurement of all medications and supplies, ensuring all sites perform proper inventory audits and to ensure compliance with pharmacy standards for storage and usage.
In partnership with Clinical Pharmacy Supports the development of Pharmacy residency programs and pharmacy intern programs across the system suitable to the needs of the patient.
Performs other related duties as required.
A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital Administration, Health Care Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration or an approved related program and seven years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and interorganizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or,
A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university and eight years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and interorganizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or,
A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Possession of a valid NYS license to practice Pharmacy through the Doctorate in Pharmacy Program (PharmD).
Seven years of progressively responsible Pharmacy related experience including a minimum of 3 years' experience in a high level professional leadership role overseeing Pharmacy operations, clinical compliance and supply chain/purchased services.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and healthcare software systems
