Reporting on an Interim basis to the Vice-President (Research), moving over to the Academic Director, Child Trauma Research Centre once the Academic Director has been established, the Program Manager will be responsible for the development of the initial business plan that will be used to establish the Child Trauma Research Centre, along with resulting policies, and budgets.
Key Duties Include:
Develop the business plan for the establishment of the Child Trauma Research Centre including:
the staffing requirements (work on the development of appropriate job descriptions for the employees);
requirements of the Centre for office/meeting space;
budget requirements; and
assist with the development of the Strategic Plan for the Centre.
Implementation of the Business Plan for the establishment of the Child Trauma Research Centre including:
develop actions plans/action items arising from the Strategic Plan;
developing implementation plans and monitoring the progress of these implementation plans;
coordinating the various components of the implementation plans, understanding the interdependencies of the components and ensuring the establishment is proceeding as required;
Monitoring budgets to ensure that the project is proceeding under the appropriate budget;
Identifying risks and issues, analyzing those risks and issues and taking appropriate corrective measures when required; and
Identifying key stakeholders for the project and ensuring that appropriate communications is occurring with the stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce or a related discipline and a minimum of 8 years of experience related to the duties identified above. A Project Management Professional certification would be an asset.
You must demonstrate that you have:
a strong understanding of project management practices and significant experience in applying this understanding;
significant experience in budgeting and tracking of expenditures;
excellent computer skills in software applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook-GroupWise, and PowerPoint;
exceptional oral and written communication skills;
exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong ability to influence and persuade others; and
strong presentation skills.
Preference will be given to individuals who have experience working in an academic or similar environment.
