The Program Coordinator I will be reporting to the Director of Business of Fashion Programs. The Program Coordinator will provide, with supervision, confidential support assisting in the development and implementation of both the undergraduate and graduate programs. The position supports the Business of Fashion (BofF) undergraduate minor, concentration and the Master of Science in Business of Fashion (MSBF), the duties of the Program Coordinator includes but not limited to the following; -Responsible for all aspects of student interface and serves as the initial point of contact for all prospective candidates, current students, and stakeholders. -Works closely with the Director to develop and implement strategic initiatives for outreach, recruitment, media relations, and marketing. -Manages admissions for the MSBF program, run admissions sessions and open houses and other such events. -Organizes Student tours, conferences, field trips and events with guest Universities and other constituents. -Additionally, the Director may assign a variety of special projects including donor relations, industry networking, and fundraising. -Budgeting and expense management will also be required. This includes, among other things, transactions such as payroll, purchasing requisitions, cash transmittal, and expense reimbursements. -Travel among regional campuses of Rutgers University, canvasing and outreach in the greater NYC and NJ area, as well as up to 50% weekend and evening work may be required. Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Requires up to two years relevant experience working in a managerial, organizational, marketing role or in the fashion industry. Good communication and interpersonal skills, as well as computer literacy are required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-The successful candidate must be detail oriented with good written and verbal communication skills. -Outstanding Internet research and computer literacy skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. -Social Media expertise or Graphic Design experience are helpful as is event planning or production experience. -Alternatively, the successful candidate will have managed operations in an educational or similar setting. Familiarity with academic business concepts is helpful.
-Demonstrated knowledge of program coordination and administration, record keeping, data organization, program promotion, and event planning. -Excellent budgetary skills and records management. -Ability to work in fast paced environment and possess sound judgment and pleasant and professional demeanor. -The position requires the ability to prioritize and multi-task while handling multiple interruptions. Work is consistent with an understanding of the mission, vision, role and goals of the programs. -To effectively perform in the position, the individual is positive, flexible and resourceful. -An abundance of energy, high degree of professionalism and reliability in all interactions is essential. -Extraordinary and proven communication and follow-up skills is mandatory. -The position is the first contact with students and other outside parties that are involved with the conduct of the Business of Fashion programs. Professional and mature attitude is essential. -The ability to represent the program effectively in the fashion Industry is key as well as an understanding of how to present the program’s image in the fashion and fashion related industries. -Public speaking, event planning and presenting experience is required. -An ability to work in a variety of organizations is key as the person will be interacting outside the university with the corporate fashion industry with a critical understanding of small business and entrepreneurship. -Travel to off campus meetings and events is required. Evening and weekend hours are mandatory.
-Minimum of 2 years working in project management, program coordination, or business administration. -Master’s Degree in a business field is preferred. -Background in interdisciplinary degree programs is desirable as well as an understanding of the fashion, beauty, and arts industries. -Experience in product branding with a strong visual background is preferred. -Some experience in digital marketing, e-commerce, and sales is desirable. Knowledge of the fashion industry is important. -Educational background in creative arts is important. -Proven track record of deliverable results in recruitment, program development, project management, and marketing is highly desirable. -Knowledge of Rutgers software, Cornerstone Projects, Salesforce, and Symplicity is preferred.
-Cornerstone preparer for all department related transactions, PC proficient and able to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite, Social Media, and online job and recruiting databases such as Symplicity. Database management and a familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
-Travel between all University campuses, program events, off campus meetings will be required on a weekly basis. Evening and weekend work may be assigned based on the needs of the program and the discretion of the Director up to 50% of the time. -Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. Ability to move around freely within the settings of a trade show atmosphere.
