South Central Power Company has an immediate opening for a Transmission & Distribution Design Engineer.
The Design Engineer will work on electric transmission and distribution projects. Major elements of the position will require completion of design calculations (strength, clearance, thermal rating), design and analysis of pole structures, design and analysis of foundations, layout of new line routes, preparation of construction drawings and details, preparation of bills of material, performing field surveying, overseeing design contractors, and project management. This position provides technical support for all aspects of the distribution and transmission design, provides technical training to engineering and operations groups, assist with the development of the construction and design standards, stays current with technical developments in the industry, oversees the public project reimbursement process including ODOT Procedures 75-1 and 75-2.
Candidates should possess knowledge of the RUS electrical transmission and distribution standards as well as NESC code.
A bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required.
Candidates will have at least three to five years of engineering experience. Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification is preferred.
