Essential Functions: Job PurposeReporting to the Vice President Economic Development and President/CEO TechTown, the Associate Director, Communications Office of Economic Development (OED) and TechTown is responsible for leading the development and continuance of communication, branding and marketing strategies for the OED and TechTown. Leads communication and marketing program development, implementation and continuance in support of organizational strategies. The essential functions are listed in order of importance.) Oversee marketing strategy development, implementation and continuance. Oversee and advise on design and content of OED and TechTown program marketing collateral. Direct the content creation for OED, TechTown and program websites, print and electronic publications, and social media, ensuring consistent messaging and accurate information across channels. Create and update messaging platforms for OED, TechTown and their programs. Serve as "chief storyteller" for OED and TechTown, overseeing the collection, dissemination and message through-lines for client, fellow, scholar, student, alumni and industry partnership stories across platforms.Develop, refine and execute media relations strategies for OED, TechTown and their programs, including press releases, media outreach and ongoing relationship-building with media contacts. Serve as the primary news media contact, providing journalists with relevant background information and coordinating interviews with OED and TechTown leadership. Respond to informational requests for OED and TechTown activities or status.Lead the communication efforts in support of OED and TechTown. Identify, design, refine and execute messaging and branding strategies that align with the organizations' overall vision, mission and goals. Assist in establishing a communications and marketing budget, monitor expenditures ensuring budget attainment.Craft talking points, interview responses, blog posts, op-eds and presentations for executives and leadership team. Evaluate speaking engagement opportunities and designate staff accordingly.Oversee tracking, analyses and reporting of marketing metrics including but not limited to web traffic, social media engagement and media hits.Provide leadership and day-to-day direction to staff. Responsible for hiring and talent management including mentoring, coaching, counseling and performance evaluation.Develop, implement, evaluate and refine communication plans. Develop and update communications manual, templates and protocols. Ensure communications calendars are created and kept up-to-date.Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred.Experience: Five years' experience in progressively responsible communication roles. Experience in partnership building, project management, and planning and leading change initiatives.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesCommunications ?
