Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Mortgage Operations, the Mortgage Processor engages in the processing and pre-underwriting of active mortgages received by the Harvard University Employees Credit Union (https://www.hueug.org/ ).. Additionally, he/she is responsible for keeping current on all compliance and regulatory issues, including established credit union policies and procedures. He/She is also responsible for keeping current with Fannie Mae and any other outside vendors used to originate mortgages.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Uses various software platforms to gather, sort and process documents on all mortgage files including first mortgages, pre- approvals, HELOCs and fixed seconds according to credit union/investor guidelines.
Reviews and monitors the mortgage pipeline to make sure all important dates are targeted.
Ensures accurate loan pricing for the transaction and communicates the same to appropriate parties on first mortgage files.
Orders title services, appraisal reports, flood zone certifications and any other products required to process the application.
Maintains frequent communications amongst all parties both inside and outside of the Credit Union including brokers, attorneys, Credit Union management and Credit Union servicing and origination departments.
Reviews and prepares mortgage file for submission to underwriting.
Provides ongoing communication to Origination staff on issues surrounding applications in process.
Investigates, resolves and responds to all customer inquiries concerning mortgage loans.
Performs timely retrieval and review of electronic documents.
Performs related or unrelated functions as may be assigned or requested.
This position is designated as critical for the Harvard University Employees Credit Union as it provides non-deferrable services that must be performed in the event of an emergency or weather-related closure.

High School Diploma.
A minimum of two years' related experience in banking operations required.
A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent course work and specialized training preferred.
Must have strong analytical skills with proven experience in processing loans to meet secondary market guidelines and familiarity with state and federal banking statutes.
Second mortgage and consumer lending experience helpful.
Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Must be proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel and other computer software or be quick to learn new or updated software.
Self-motivated individual with strong written and verbal communication skills.
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required.
Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature.
Must be able to work in the very diverse environment of Harvard University and affiliate organizations.
Work is performed in an office setting.
Must be able to sit for at least four hours.
Additional hours are required, either early/late weekdays and weekend hours depending upon the business needs of the department.
This position is part of the bargaining unit and is overtime eligible.
