The Auton Lab at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking outstanding programmers to contribute to a wide range of fundamental and applied projects in Machine Learning. We are a large academic group driven by a desire to make real-world difference, pursuing a broad range of research interests. The areas of our current focus include but are not limited to modeling complex temporal and sequential data, structural learning, incorporating diverse feedback, interactive network science, etc. We are always interested in finding ways to make Artificial Intelligence more accessible, beneficial and affordable to everyone. Our current application areas include healthcare in clinical, managerial, and new sensors contexts, radiation safety, countering human trafficking, agriculture, predictive maintenance of equipment, etc.
We are looking for someone who has proper training and experience with research programming (C/C++, python, scientific programming libraries, web interfaces). We expect solid hands-on development capabilities, effective communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as a part of a team. The successful candidate will be curious, thorough, energetic, self-organized, able to work on multiple projects in parallel, and driven by a desire to make impact in the real world.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Develop, deploy and present data mining and machine learning software applications.
Contribute to project management and maintenance of customer relationships.
Take the lead in establishing requirements for the code to be developed, delivery of the code, maintenance of the code, and assembly of documentation and user guides.
Conduct statistical analyses of data and analyses of performance of the developed software.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other relevant field required
1-3 years of relevant research or systems programming experience
Excellent problem-solving, reasoning, planning, organization and oral/written communication skills required
