Currently seeking an associate veterinarian for full-time employment!
Jackson Veterinary Clinic is a mixed-animal practice consisting of 60% small animal and 40% beef cattle.
Small Animal: Full laboratory with Abaxis equipment, digital x-ray, four exam rooms, Avimark software, surgical suite with isoflurane gas anesthesia. Our small animal staff is experienced and fun! Although our building is less than ten years old, we plan to make major improvements in 2019 to accommodate our ever-growing clientele.
Beef Cattle: Our cattle facility is brand new! It features drive-thru unloading, heated building, several holding pens, SAFE and efficient working facilities. You will be provided with your own truck and vet box.
Southeast Missouri is cow-calf country. You will have the opportunity to ultrasound thousands of cows per year if desired.
Jackson, Missouri is a great place to live and raise a family. The Jackson school district was recently recognized as one of the top districts in the state. Jackson is a rural community with a population of around 15,000. Our clinic is a ten-minute drive to the beautiful countryside, or a ten-minute drive to the city of Cape Girardeau which has a population of 40,000 and is home to Southeast Missouri State University.
As a new grad, you would be allowed to practice at the level you feel comfortable with. I was a new grad not too long ago and understand the stresses that come with our profession. I will have your back! Would be willing to hire for small animal only if desired, but some interest in beef cattle would be a plus. If your primary interest is beef cattle, we are the only large animal veterinary clinic in the area and your opportunities are endless.
After hours: Monday through Thursday we see our own small animal emergencies, averaging one call every other week. Friday through Sunday we participate in an on-call weekend rotation with eight other small animal practices, representing twelve veterinarians. On the cattle side, we see only existing clients, and share weekend duties with one other veterinarian. You will be compensated for each after hours case you see.
Competitive Salary that includes benefits package--retirement plan available after one year of service, AVMA dues and licenses, CE allowance, and paid vacation. Four to five-day work week with scheduled day off every week and every other weekend off! Following your first year of employment, you have the option to be paid bonuses on increased production level.
**VMLRP**- Veterinary Medical Loan Repayment Program with the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture. This program will pay $25,000 per year for three years to pay off veterinary student loans. I participated in this program following graduation, it was a substantial financial benefit to my career. I believe this program should be available for Southeast Missouri again this year.
Why we need YOU! In the last seven years, our practice has nearly doubled in business, but It’s time for me to slow down at the clinic and spend more time with my family. My wife and I were just blessed with our second little boy on Thanksgiving Day! My family and I also row-crop and have one of the larger cattle herds in the area. With the addition of a second veterinarian, we could both have balance in our lives, which is crucial to the veterinary profession. If you are willing to work hard and treat clients with honesty and integrity, Jackson Veterinary Clinic could be your forever home! You will be treated like a member of our family. You have the potential to make a very comfortable living in an area that is a great place to live. If you are interested in an externship or working interview, please reach out.
Feel free to contact me directly with any questions.
