The Development Manager position on Children’s Home & Aid’s fundraising team is critical to helping the agency meet its financial goals and fulfill its mission. We are looking for an experienced leader in the field of development and fundraising to build and develop high performing volunteer fundraising boards, oversee events logistics and supervise Development Associates and seasonal volunteers and interns. As the Development Manager of Auxiliaries & Events, you will be responsible for a significant portion of the agency’s annual fundraising goals, and will work closely with other members of the Management and Leadership team to inform development strategy and execute highly successful fundraising events. The Development Manager reports to the Director of Development Operations.
Oversee daily operations and strategic planning of fundraising activity.
Support all aspects of regional and auxiliary fundraising board operations including membership activity, cultivation and stewardship, strategic planning support, administrative support, and fundraising event logistics.
Collaborate with the auxiliary leadership to recruit, train and coach members to achieve fundraising goals, and to plan and execute innovative and efficient fundraising events and activities.
Supervise two full-time Development Associates, as well as seasonal volunteer and interns as needed.
Work with Communications team or outside vendors to develop marketing materials for events.
Utilize Raiser’s Edge to maintain member records, relationship tracking, and financial reporting.
Maintain revenue and expense tracking and assist in reconciling financials and developing projections.
Bachelor’s degree OR High School diploma/GED with a minimum of four years related experience.
Three years of professional development experience required; non-profit industry preferred.
Three years of professional experience in working with volunteer boards and/or committees required, preferably in a leadership role.
Management experience required.
Demonstrated track record of solicitation experience and an understanding of all general areas of fund development.
Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
Proven relationship-building skills.
Ability to work with various departments and foster teamwork.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with consistent follow-through; ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Reliable transportation to regularly attend events and meetings in the Chicago area, and occasionally travel to Central Illinois.
