Executive Director - Facilities – System Wide – Facilities Administration – Orlando
Orlando seeks to hire a Director who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.
Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year.
The Executive Director is responsible for the strategic management of the Organization's Facilities Departments, System-wide. Plans, develops, and executes the system-wide vision for the Facilities, Clinical Engineering, Control Systems, Energy Management, Fleet Management, and Landscaping Departments for the Organization. Ensures that facility operations are effective, efficient, and in compliance with the CMS, DNV / Joint Commission, AHCA, and other federal and state safety and regulatory agencies. Develops and recommends methodologies to ensure that Facilities operates within budget, evaluating supply and labor usage needed to meet established annual metrics. Develops new business opportunities, implements required training and development of team members, and oversees the safety, procurement, and supply of industrial and maintenance products and services for each facility. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Expert level knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of facility operations and management.
Expert level knowledge of AHCA regulations, DNV /CMS and JCAHO Standards, as well as other applicable rules and regulations.
Comprehensive and practical understanding of large mechanical systems such as; HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and engineering maintenance, including ability to problem solve effectively.
Effective organization skills with above average time management skills including the ability establish priorities and manage multiple projects.
Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information in understandable terms to all levels of staff.
Ability to work in a complex matrix-management environment to achieve organizational goals.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and various information systems used throughout the organization.
Knowledge of engineering systems, construction management practices and procedures, including ability to read technical drawings and blueprints. (Preferred)
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related field
Master's degree in engineering, business, or related field (Preferred)
Ten years' experience in healthcare facilities management in a multi-site organization
Five years leadership experience in healthcare facilities management in a multi-site organization.
Five years finance experience managing multi-million-dollar budget through financial analysis, strategic budget planning, capital spend and procurement costs.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
Certified Healthcare Engineer (CHE) designation from the Florida Healthcare Engineering Association (Preferred)
Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) designation from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (Preferred)

Provides executive level oversight and direction to system-wide delivery and performance of Facilities, Clinical Engineering, Control Systems, Energy Management, Fleet Management, and Landscaping Departments throughout the Central Florida Division.
Evaluates current systems and processes, develops and implements system-wide standards for a comprehensive facilities management program including: Preventive, corrective and routine maintenance, energy management, project management, and performance management.
Provides executive level guidance and escalation for Facilities Department Directors and leaders throughout the system.
Develops training programs to ensure Facilities staff is educated and knowledgeable about current codes and regulations with all pertinent regulatory agency requirements (AHCA, OSHA, DNV/Joint Commission), and with internal compliance, policies, and procedures.
Controls expenses within area of responsibility by developing and implementing processes that ensure departments operate within annual budgets, in excess of $68 million dollars annually.
Evaluates supply and labor usage as needed to meet budgetary metrics.
Develops and monitors annual operating budget and fiscal accountability for all departments in roll-up.
Provides strategic input and direction for facility upgrades, and administrative oversight of the day-to-day operations, ensuring long term durability of facilities engineering systems.
Develops and creates ideas, processes and approaches that shape the future, takes risks and makes decisions based on facts. Uses analysis and critical thinking skills to solve problems and ensures that decisions are aligned with strategic direction of the Organization.
Working with the Facilities Directors and Leaders, establishes proactive, long range, capital project and equipment planning.
Consistently looks for areas of cost improvement while maintaining high performance and customer satisfaction. Meets quarterly with campus administrative directors and key personnel to solicit customer feedback, develop relationships and evaluate initiatives.
Supports and encourages staff professional development through participation in educational programs and professional organizations, and activities to maintain knowledge of national trends and to promote leading edge performance.
Promotes good staffing practices by maximizing the utilization of human resources; forecasts and anticipates personnel needs with regard to fluctuations in the projected workload.
Builds capabilities within departments by coaching, developing, evaluating and mentoring directors and other team members.
Acts as a positive role model; proactive in the achievement of the hospital and facility's goals and objectives.
