The Office of University Communications is seeking a talented and creative Multimedia Specialist to help tell Pitt's story through compelling video/multimedia projects.
Under the direction of the Director of Multimedia, this position is responsible for: coordination, planning, and execution of photography; concept, design, creation, directing, scheduling, filming and post-production of video projects; assisting with social media management and other communication objectives. The ideal candidate is a strong visual storyteller with experience making complex topics understandable to a broad audience. They must be comfortable building relationships with coworkers, students, faculty and staff to ensure a strong message, including the ability to gain trust and put a person at ease in front of the camera, recognize the visual direction that will best highlight the University, and provide thoughtful and efficient direction on-site to keep a project on strategy. This person will also need to create motion graphics and similar multimedia products as well as be proficient with After Effects. As part of a team, this role will assist with the University's social media presence and help ensure their projects reach as many people as possible.
This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills to ensure the key messages of the University comes through in all visual media. The successful candidate will have experience assessing communication needs and measuring results, understanding communication goals to inform decisions about what information to highlight, communicating ideas and providing direction to stakeholders and subjects involved in multimedia projects, communicating status of projects to supervisors and peers and managing production of media content to ensure all parties are in sync.
This position requires a high degree of self-motivation as well as the ability to work independently, but also requires team-based collaboration. The individual will be responsible for managing multiple projects from concept through creation with strategic and operational goals in mind. This individual must be proficienct with Adobe Creative Suite, have experience with all phases of video production, as well as possess knowledge of emerging best practices for visual communications and multimedia equipment.

- Bachelor's degree in related film, video production, or communications area
- Knowledge of cameras, lenses, lights, and all necessary production equipment
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (specifically, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator and Audition)
- Experience managing institutional or business social media accounts strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and deliver a quality product on time and within budget
- Demonstrated maturity and professionalism
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and creative planning skills
- Photography skills are a plus N/A
