The School of Plant, Environmental, and Soil Sciences seeks applicants for a 12 month (50% research, 40% teaching, and 10% extension), tenure-track position specializing in precision/digital production agriculture, agronomic modeling, database management, and GIS remote sensing. The incumbent has flexibility to study crop production practices and relate plant physiology, and crop growth using crop models. Research can extend to developing workable algorithms for refining growth of crops, and better understanding environmental interactions to further the science of precision agriculture. The successful candidate will develop 3 introductory/senior level courses with an emphasis on application of precision agriculture in crop production. The incumbent will collaborate with a team of scientists working in the area of precision agriculture to develop teaching, extension and research programs for commodities of importance in Louisiana. The incumbent will be part of a team that serves as a program resource for extension agents, consultants, commodity groups and clientele on precision agriculture. The successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining extramural funding to support their research program and publishing research in peer-reviewed journals and extension outreach publications.
