The Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS) at Iowa State University is seeking a Technology Assistance Program (TAP) Manager to collaborate with the CIRAS Director in developing a strategic direction for CIRAS technology programs and implementing technology aspects of the CIRAS strategic plan.
This position is responsible for duties within the CIRAS executive team and applying creative and resourceful management skills in leading the CIRAS project managers, as well as, submitting timely reports as required by state funding agencies, federal agencies, and the CIRAS Director. This position requires original and analytical thinking to ensure CIRAS accurately assesses the needs of clients; stays abreast of changes in technology that will impact industry; develops strong partnerships with ISU units, state agencies, and federal agencies; and provides administrative oversight of funding and support program through fees charged clients. This position will also serves as the CIRAS Associate Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Director and will collaborate with the CIRASMEP Director to develop improved strategies and processes to ensure effective and efficient program operations, expand program capacity, and ensure long-term capabilities to provide resources to Iowa's manufacturers. Additionally, this position will develop methods to measure organizational and individual performance.
The successful candidate must have strong management, leadership, team-building, partnering, and process improvement skills. This person must also maintain subject matter expertise in an engineering area to provide education and technical assistance to clients. Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 6 years of related experience; OR a Ph.D. or other professional degree and 3 years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Additional years of related experience including mid-level management. - Experience in manufacturing at a company with a record of successful performance. - Experience with high performance in the small to mid-size manufacturing sector with exposure to global business operations. - Experience with research, development, and presentation of educational curriculum and programs to diverse audiences. - Experience in a supervisory capacity.
