Our University Advancement (UA) supports the entire CMU community in securing the financial resources the university needs to continue its ascent. As the division grows, we are seeking an Associate Director, Advancement Communications (Digital Engagement, Web and Community) with a real passion for higher education and who appreciate the role of philanthropy in enabling the university to accomplish its mission. We are looking for talented individuals with a passion for their work and a dedication to the mission of CMU. In this role, you will lead UA's digital strategies for social media. You will also champion social media marketing channels with a focus on data-driven strategies, rich multimedia content and creative tactics that increase constituent engagement and build philanthropic support for Carnegie Mellon.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Advancement Marketing and Communications, you will develop and execute comprehensive, leading-edge communications and marketing plans as part of the division's broader integrated marketing strategies, as well as work closely with other teams within the division, including Alumni Relations, Annual Giving, Development, Gift Planning and Institutional Partnerships, to conceive and carry out digital engagement strategies that help to achieve UA's goals and objectives.
Core responsibilities will include:
Managing and enhancing the strategies for and activities on websites.
Leading the creation of the ongoing content plan for the online community for alumni and other constituencies.
Developing and implementing website and community communications and marketing plans, as well as project plans, in coordination with division's integrated marketing strategies. Maintaining an editorial content calendar for website and community.
Developing and implementing strategies for community user adoption and ongoing engagement to build and maintain a lively community.
Engaging with and responding to community users through chat functionality and other interactive tools and tactics.Troubleshooting user issues in collaboration with technical team.
Serving as liaison to partners in Alumni Relations and CMU colleges/schools for community management. Establishing best practices, provides training and facilitates regular meetings with stakeholders to support and enhance community.
Working in collaboration with partners to develop multimedia content for website and community.
Collaborating extensively with content and creative team to maintain and execute robust content plan for websites and community.
Establishing collaborative relationships with CMU website, social media and other marketing professionals, both within and outside division.
Serving as liaison to CMU Division of Marketing and Communications for website efforts.
Continually reviewing emerging technologies, platforms, innovations and trends; advocates for and implements the adoption of new tactics, tools and channels that add to division's digital engagement efforts.
Applying user metrics to create, update and enhance web pages to increase engagement, including visitors, visits, page views, time on page and conversions.
Leveraging and applying best practices in SEO to websites.
Establishing relevant metrics, develops reports and provides analysis of digital engagement performance to evaluate existing and future strategies.
Developing and following best practices guidelines for division web marketing; continually updates guidelines as necessary.
Managing relationships with external vendors.

Yo You should have the ability to travel to other locations, both on and off campus. You should also be willing to work outside normal business hours as evening and weekend work are occasionally required.
Bachelor's degree is required; (Master's degree preferred);
7+ years of online marketing, communications and project management experience;
Experience in building and implementing strategic integrated marketing plans;
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS;
Experience with content management systems and web-publishing tools (Cascade, Wordpress, Drupal and Salesforce Marketing/Community Cloud preferred);
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite; and
Experience with photography and videography for online use;
