The Senior Privacy and Surveillance Analyst (Surveillance Analyst--payroll title Privacy and Compliance Professional 4) is responsible for implementing and maintaining the Privacy Surveillance Program. The Surveillance Analyst is responsible for implementing and maintaining Protenus, an electronic system that utilizes artificial intelligence to help protect the privacy and security of UC Davis Health's data. Specifically, Protenus is utilized to conduct on-going, detailed audits of users' access to data systems, including the electronic medical record, to ensure this access is appropriate. The Surveillance Analyst plays a critical role in the development of workflows related to ongoing surveillance activities using Protenus.In order to fulfill UC Davis Health's obligations under University policy and to meet the requirements of state and federal law, any instances of potential, improper systems' access, must be fully and fairly reviewed to determine whether an improper activity has taken place. This position will conduct highly complex investigations resulting for the Privacy Program's surveillance activities in order to determine whether an access is appropriate under the privacy laws.Required:-Bachelor Degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Law, Health Care or related field and/or equivalent education, training, and experience-Experience performing privacy reviews and investigations-Proven project management skills and experience managing multiple projects in a highly regulatory environment-Knowledge of Federal and State privacy regulations-Knowledge of health care law and state and federal billing regulations.-Strong communication skills -Experience working independently and as a team Preferred:-Certification in Health Care Compliance (CHC) or Certification in Healthcare Privacy Certification (CHPC).-Experience in Healthcare environment-Experience working with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
