The Nutrition and Global Health Program in the Department of Global Health and Population, at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated Research and Program Coordinator with a public health background and strong research and quantitative skills to join its team to contribute to the strategic development and implementation of the program's research activities. The program is conducting several global health research and training projects with partners in resource-limited settings in sub- Saharan Africa and Asia. The program's research focus includes global health priorities including maternal and child health, and infectious diseases, with emphasis on nutritional factors.
Working closely with the Program's faculty, senior managers and in coordination with program partner institutions, this position will be supporting a wide range of activities within the program including proposal development, manuscripts development and managing programmatic aspects of existing projects. The research assistant will work closely with principal investigators in Boston and at collaborating sites, as well as the project directors, data managers and clinical team members, to ensure that projects enrollment goals are met, participants' follow up goals are on target and that high-quality data are collected. They will also serve as a primary point of contact to ensure that ethical and regulatory clearances and reporting are up to date for the Harvard and field partners.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead the development of trial protocols and standard operating procedures, as well as the creation of case report forms for the project team
Work with researchers and data managers at field sites to develop data collection program and systems
Lead monitoring of the implementation of the project and perform regular site visits for monitoring and evaluation of the study progress to ensure data quality and integrity
Lead the cleaning and analysis of vast incoming data to provide data-driven feedback to project sites for quality improvement
Maintain required documentation for clinical trials, as well as adverse event reporting
Lead communications with stakeholders, project data mangers and clinical team via weekly conference calls to ensure projects objectives are met on time and within the approved budget
Work closely with the management and finance team in Boston and at the sites to ensure objectives of the trial(s) are met on schedule and within the approved budget
Perform regulatory submissions to the Institutional Review Boards (IRB) and other regulatory organizations
Author and publish abstracts, poster presentations, and research articles
Prepare technical reports to the funder and assist/lead the academic manuscript writing process
Other duties as required

PLEASE NOTE: This position may require less than 25% international travel -- up to a few times per year, each trip being about a couple of weeks in length.

3+ years of related experience required with 1+ years of experience with statistical programming software such as SAS or STATA; a combination of education and experience may be considered
Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
Master's Degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, or related field preferred
Experience in international research project coordination preferred
Experience liaising with Institutional Review Boards, other regulatory organizations, and academic and governmental institutions preferred
Experience in project management and data analysis preferred
Experience preparing and writing for published or unpublished pieces of professional, research-oriented work preferred
Excellent organizational, and problem-solving skills; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Experience working independently, under supervision, and as part of a team; Strong attention to detail; Excellent time management skills; Goal and detail-oriented work style; Experience with meticulous and consistent follow through on projects are all preferred
