The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) School of Pharmacy has an opening for a Program Specialist to work with the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science. The Program Specialist will use established principles and best practices of program and project management to coordinate the administration of projects and assignments of the research team. This position will be responsible for managing the day-to-day administrative functions as well as evaluating the overall progress of the project. This includes developing and overseeing procedures for operations, scheduling and time management, budgeting, procurement and supply, basic IT maintenance, and space planning. This position is funded by the Clinical Use of Bulk Drug Substances Nominated for use in compounding by outsourcing facilities grant sponsored by the FDA.

Assists in the management and oversight of assigned projects. Assists in the planning and implementation of new or revised projects, procedures, practices, and organization.
Assists in planning and coordinating administrative activities of the project, such as taking meeting minutes, developing deadlines and ensuring progress on the project goals, delivering communications with primary investigators and key personnel, and tracking milestones and deliverables.
Establishes effective communication channels and acts as a liaison between the project team and officials within and outside the institution.
Assists in the execution of projects according to project protocols and addresses problems as they arise.
Collaborates with the pre/post award accountant to track spending and reconcile budget accounts.
Model a positive teamwork approach in coordinating smooth operations each day.
Periodically analyzes internal processes, equipment, and supplies, and implements changes to improve operations.
Oversees event planning, catering requests, outreach to medical experts and medical specialty organizations, and coordination of travel.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelors in Business, Management, Communications, and/or related field. Experience: Two (2) years in a related field with administrative or business operation experience. OR Consideration may be given for a unique combination of education and experience.
