Web and Information Designer under general supervision supports various web development projects for marketing, recruitment and communications needs of the Department of Visualization, predominant duties include website creation, layout, updating and functionality but may include some designing and editing forms/graphics/photos for use in multimedia, websites, and other online purposes.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three years of website design experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Expert skill level using Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, and InDesign
Good at rewriting content to be effective and pointed
Knowledge of Cascade CMS
Knowledge of front end and back end, basic HTML and CSS skills
Knowledge of word processing presentation and spreadsheet type programs
Understanding of design principles and website design principles
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Understanding of UI/UX principles
Video editing/creation ability a plus
Preferred Education and Experience:
Designs and produces online accessible forms and content in coordination with the web team for both print and digital media
Designs and produces supporting material for events and activities within the department
Uses complex information and data to determine and implement the best graphics formats for the most effective visual communication.
Creates original illustrations for use in marketing materials, both print and digital
Designs and produces department advertising for both print and digital media for events and activities within the department
Social media posting for the department. Follows industry trends through blogs, e-newsletters, and social media
Looks for innovative ways to illustrate and share information to the appropriate audiences
Tracks trends and news in related areas, such as marketing, advertising, and higher education.
Assists and advises department communicators with the application of university brand guidelines
Maintains current content on the university brand guide website
Works with the content team to develop wireframes and a site design in accordance with brand guides and campus initiatives.Performs other duties as assigned
